OK, so, you have a point guard. He's ok, still young, possible upside. But then oops you get a new guy who's way way better. So your choices are keep the first guy around as your backup, with a youngster backing up a youngster. Or you take advantage of your good fortune and trade what you have a surplus of to get something you need back. You can find a veteran anywhere to backup Doncic.
An imperfect analogy is the Wentz-Foles situation. This isn't how it will necessarily go, but if they decided to keep Foles and deal Wentz would you LOL at them giving up on their big time first round pick?
Awful comparison because in the NFL you can't have your QB just go play another position. In the NBA, damn near every player can play multiple positions. Same goes for MLB.
I never thought DSJ was a true PG so you can easily move him to a SG position if you were serious about making this work.
His #'s are solid for a 2nd year player.
Avg 15 and 5 last year as a rookie on a bad shooting %. This year, he is at 12 and 4 on 44% shooting and 37% from 3....Yeah I'm not quitting on this guy by any stretch.
They better be getting some unprotected lottery pick from the Suns for me to agree with this
