People don't realize the loss of talent Alabama has to the NFL (and to some degree transfers) compared to other programs early. They don't get their best players back after that 3rd year like most programs around the country. That makes the rate of losing talent higher at Alabama which great recruiting doesn't always cover.

Ohio State has been right there with Bama the last four years in losing talent to the NFL. Hell they had to basically replace their entire secondary twice. That's what separated Clemson this year was getting several key guys to stay. Huge pro for Swinney.

Quinnen Williams was the only player on defense to declare early. Meaning projected 1st round picks Mack Wilson,Deionte Thompson, and Anfernnee Jennings decided to return. We also get preseason preojected 1st round pick and our best pass rusher who didnt play this year because of injury, Terrell Lewis, back.
So basically...All 4 starters in our secondary return...All 4 starters in our LB core return. 2 of our 3 starting DL return.


On offense we return:

Our QB, All 4 recievers, 3 of 5 OL but one of the replacement started every game during our 2017 NC season. And our 5* RB Najee Harris.


But most of all this team will be hungry after getting embarassed.

I'd say our OOC is harder in 2019 than 2018. Cincinnati is a legit team, regardless of being a G5. I don't see that as a L, but it'll be much more challenging than Oregon State and Tulane.

Tulane and TCU turned out to be very mediocre and obviously Oregon State was horrible. Miami(OH) and FAU are both obviously better than them, and compare similarly to Tulane.

We definitely have been, though. Our average final ranking has been 4.5, beaten only by Clemson and Alabama. 3rd best record, 3rd best average end of season ranking. 3rd best team of the last 4 years. It is what it is.

That 48-6 has come in a four year stretch where Wisconsin, Michigan, Michigan State and Penn State have all experienced multiple 10+ win seasons. B10 has been a pretty tough conference, especially the East division. They also have bowl wins over USC, Washington and Notre Dame (an ND team that was a couple of plays away from being in the playoffs). that isn't hollow. they got blown out by a Clemson team that won the Championship. shit happens. Making the playoffs is a pretty big achivement if you ask me.

As opposed to...... They're always loaded. I'm not necessarily enjoying anything, but I will not be surprised if Bama wins it again next year. As long as the midget is there, they'll be contenders every year.
