9 of 10.

Personally, I find the Jack Ryan movies a little overrated. Patriot Games is good, but not great. Clear and Present Danger is easily the better of these two. Shadow Recruit was meh. Sum of All Fears was... mediocre I thought. To each their own.

The Jack Ryan Amazon series is ok, but again, nothing amazing.

Vice: 1/5 stars. What a terrible movie, and how disappointing, after Adam McKay directed one of the best movies of this decade (IMO) in The Big Short (4/5 stars). This movie felt like a collection of 200 different 30-45 second scenes stapled one right after the other. I imagine anyone who has seen it knows what I'm talking about.

I already knew/thought that Dick Cheney was an evil, self-serving bastard. This movie told me nothing new, did not entertain me, and did not connect with me on an emotional level in any sense of the word "emotional." It certainly didn't help that there's absolutely no character development throughout the ~2 hour runtime either.

Third worst movie I've seen in 2018, after Ready Player One and Mandy (0.5/5 stars) taking the top two spots respectively.

Vice is very similar to Big Short in terms of the cutting and editing, and in fact while I was watching Vice I was thinking how similar the two movies were, but didn't know the makers were the same.

The movie delved into his DUIs, and early government experiences, and his stand-by-me wife, and the gay daughter, and had good character development of the Cheney character.

I'm guessing most viewers of this movie would disagree with your review, seeing as how it has 7.1/61 on Imdb (I think).

Bale nails the character, especially his verbal cadence. Awesome pic 8/10

edit: and won Golden Globe best actor comedy musical, and had a bunch of other award nominations.

Big Short, best movie of the decade? I thought it was good, but probably not top 10 of the decade... now I'm curious.

@Omar 382 , what would you say are your top 10 movies of 2010-present?

I haven't taken the time to lay out the top 10 myself, but these movies would be up for consideration...

Spotlight
Grand Budapest Hotel
Silver Linings Playbook
Whiplash
Get Out
The Wolf of Wallstreet
Manchester by the Sea
127 Hours
Moneyball
Gone Girl
Prisoners
Birdman
The Social Network
The Martian

And for full disclosure, Grand Budapest Hotel would more than likely be my number 1 movie of the decade.

To each their own.

A top 10 would be tough. I know Birdman, Social Network and Wolf on Wall Street would all make my top 50. I'll have to think of a top 10.

I was being liberal with the "one of the greatest movies of the decade" tag. I gave The Big Short 4/5 stars. I looked at my film database to answer your question. There are three movies of this decade I've given 5/5 stars, so I ranked them in order. There are 21 movies I've given 4.5/5 stars of this decade, so I picked the best seven of those to get 10 movies this decade. In order:

1. Arrival
2. End of Watch
3. Wind River
4. Hell or High Water
5. Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri
6. Shutter Island
7. Prisoners
8. The Hateful Eight
9. Flight
10. The Revenant

From my database:

Spotlight: 3.5/5 stars
Grand Budapest Hotel: N/A (saw it when it came out and liked it, but did not rate it then and haven't seen it since)
Silver Linings Playbook- Haven't seen
Whiplash: 2.5/5 stars
Get Out: 4/5 stars
The Wolf of Wallstreet: 3/5 stars
Manchester by the Sea: 1/5 stars
127 Hours: N/A (saw it when it came out, didn't like it, didn't rate it and haven't seen it since)
Moneyball: 4.5/5 stars
Gone Girl: 2/5 stars
Prisoners: 4.5/5 stars (on my top 10)
Birdman: 3/5 stars
The Social Network: N/A (saw it when it came out, thought it was just ok but obviously didn't rate movies back then)
The Martian: 3/5 stars

Whats funny is that he gave it a higher rating than you.
Yeah but my rating didn't feature me getting triggered by 2 minutes of social commentary at the end.

Gimme Shelter: 3.5/5 stars. 1970 rock documentary that was less a rock documentary than it was a riveting chronicle of the sad and violent end of the 60s hippie era.

Looking at the RT audience score, I'd say it's about 50/50
