Maybe. I always figured PEDs wouldn't have the desired effect on a guy like Maddux.
I think any athlete would benefit if they had an analysis done of their own natural body chemistry and then added a complimentary chemical in the right quantity. I just don't know how these pitchers like Johnson, Clemens, Maddox, Glavine racked up all those innings without some kind of help. HGH would certainly allow the muscle to recover quicker from throwing 95-110 pitches (plus another 100 or so warm up throws).

Agreed. Pete's case is different from PED users. Entirely different.

I don't know about Joe Jackson. Is it revisionist history that now makes Jackson appear innocent or was he actually innocent all along. I have no idea.

Doesn't really matter either way for Shoeless Joe. His sentence has been served. He's long been dead, and thus his ban is over. Time to put him in.

I can't speak to Ortiz (maybe because he is likable?) but I've always been more lenient with Pettitte because he was front and center and owned up to it, and I know others are the same. Doesn't make him any less of a cheater but the fact he did that after is respectable.

I thought he blamed his dad and that he only tried it once and didn't like it?

What makes Ortiz likeable though?

I always saw him as one of the biggest crybabies in the game, and didn't respect him as a person at all.

I remember one time he had a 3-0 count, and the next pitch was down the middle, and he thought "I'm David Ortiz, no way the ump calls a strike a strike" and started walking down the first base line when the umpire called the pitch down the middle a strike.

Later on in the AB, Ortiz hit a single, but was such a crybaby over not being given preferential treatment with the strikezone that he bitched about the umpire the whole way to first base and got himself rung. Really, getting the single was the better outcome and he forced the pitcher to throw a few more pitches, that should be helping his teammates behind him get a feel for the pitcher, but he's such a selfish, nonteam player, he decided to make an ass out of himself.

Who knows, maybe because people think he's funny. I was always pretty indifferent towards him.
