Ohio State has a 2-1 playoff record.

One team has a better winning pct.
The "second loss" concept is nothing more than an excuse. Used by fans who prefer the system that relies on debate. Because theres really no legitimate reason to expand. 11-2 while playing an extra game and winning a conference championship. Is better than 11-1 finishing 3rd in your division and playing an FCS team to pad wins....

Its really no different than the prior system aside from playing an extra game for a championship decided off the field. Every years just a debate that still leaves question marks. The flaws just become more clear every year. Time to expand and use actual criteria to qualify

This.

Hell I'd be happy if it was as simple as auto bid and then tie breaker among top X teams is best OOC win.

Then maybe everyone would quit being pansies OOC

They are never going to have a legitimate platform to work off of. You have a disparity in conference games 9 vs 8. Which effects everything from OOC to conference win loss records. Using a second loss for that reason alone makes using the second loss method an asinine gauge. Based on the common logic. Its much more likely a team will drop a game or have an off game. Against a P5 conference opponent. Than dropping a game against a lay up like Mercer,Citadel etc.....

I also don't buy the second loss when comparing one team who has 11 wins and 2 losses earned the right to play that extra game. While winning a Conference championship. While an 11-1 team gwta in over them when they couldn't even win their division.

The play offs are a good start. But their are far too many flaws in the selection process. Far too much human influence and opinion involved. If the goal is to crown a true champion as they claimed. They still have a long way to go. 6-8 with some form of actual criteria or its really no different than the flawed system that led to the play offs. No different than any system you have to work out the flaws until you reach an optimal system

"Win your conference"

Versus

"A bunch of people who never played football or are too old to....voting on the participants"

Why the fuck is your conference so special that winning it is the most important thing in college football?

There are 130 teams and growing in FBS, yet playing those 9 games against random levels of competitiveness is supposed to mean something on a national stage?

Conferences don't even try to get the best team as their conference champion. They do not take OOC games into account at all. You can go 0-3 OOC and still win your conference.

Sorry, but winning the Big10 doesn't mean a fucking thing to me on a national stage. At all. Yet at the same time there is a reason why conference champions have been the playoffs all but for 2 teams, normally it means something on a national stage because of what is accomplished along the way.

The label itself? Fucking worthless. You won the Big10? Don't give a fuck, it means nothing unless you're a Big10 fan.

This ain't the fucking NFL.

What the fuck are you talking about?

Ohio St was the right choice in 2015, and Georgia didn't belong this year.

Why you mad bro?

You all always get your spot either way

Not that Bama hasn't earned it

We can even call it the Bama Invitational (except with teams that earned the right to be there but I like the sound of Invitational)

Either applies in this situation.

I prefer 2015 because that team actually deserved it
Who was arguing Ohio State should have gone in 2015? I’m pretty sure it was widely agreed upon that Michigan State should have gone over Ohio State.

Moreso OU but the rain was widely discussed in terms of Sparty on Rivals

You all earned it though

Can't argue for AQ and be a hypocrite

I am admittedly an OU fan and I am admittedly no fan of most of the teams doing the most bitching about an expanded playoff. With that said, I'm all in favor of going to 8 teams if we throw away the farce of conference champions automatically getting into the playoff. A weak conference has a built in advantage with that approach. Maybe it is a yearly advantage or maybe it's only an occasional advantage but it makes no sense to reward a participation trophy to anyone. Take the 8 top ranked teams and let them go at it. If one conference has a big share of the field, then so be it. If Oklahoma doesn't make it as a conference champion because we are ranked below #8, then so be it. If none of the small fry make the playoff, too bad. The 8 top ranked teams would be a hoot to watch playing each other. And to placate the major bowls, rotate the initial four playoff games among them.

Just curious who all these 3rd place in their division finishers are that made the playoffs. The truth is, 8-4 finishing 5th in your division could be better than 11-1 winning a conference championship....depends on the conference and the division. Playing more conference games and expanding the playoffs is not going to fix that, or how shitty the Pac-12 is.

It ain't my business what you spend your money on, but I'd never heard of it until this past week. And while I can't see the full articles, the titles to the pages being linked are clickbait and unless the article goes against the headline, isn't accurate.

They have some of the most respected journalists in America. Bruce Feldman is someone I'm sure you would have heard of. Along with dedicated sites to specific teams. Pete Sampson is the ND writer and he's been great.

I'm not mad, I have an opinion and I think your opinion is shit. I'm blunt and don't care if you like it.

And it has nothing to do with Alabama. You want a shit system period. Alabama isn't going to be at the top forever, people have to think beyond their own teams current situation. You're just gonna end up shitting all over the sport because you think it's the NFL and it's not.
