This might be the tipping point. Delany was formerly one of the most prominent anti-expansion people.

Maybe they should talk to their conference champ about not getting blown out by a .500 team in consecutive years.
Not being blown out but losing to a mediocre team seems to be a recurring theme in the Big10. I think they champhas lost to a team with 4 or more losses every year since 2011.

Downvote for linking to that same clickbait website that people keep linking to on this subject.

Weird how they are the only ones reporting it, and you have to pay to see the content.

Expand it so a B1G team can get in and then get shutout? Interesting tactic.

I subscribe to The Athletic. It's actually really good content. Costs me $3.99/month.

It ain't my business what you spend your money on, but I'd never heard of it until this past week. And while I can't see the full articles, the titles to the pages being linked are clickbait and unless the article goes against the headline, isn't accurate.

it's been around for a few years now, but they exploded last spring after investing coverage in new cities and bringing in a bunch of writers (local and national).

He's only for it if the Rose Bowl can be the top dog and dictate dates.

Well, you need to quit making your teams play a Murderer's Row (according to Gordon Gee) schedule without a break! You need to weave some FCS teams and bye dates later in the schedule to give 'em a break. The B1G champions wouldn't lose to those 4 loss teams if they were a little fresher instead of ground down. :heh:

Delaney is trying to cover his ass for caving at the beginning.

The Big10 and the Pac12 were in favor of the 4 Best Conf Champs
getting in the playoffs. They backed down on that and went with the
SEC wanting the 4 best teams.

Every year, at least 1 conf champ will be eliminated. If ND is in
the playoffs then two will be eliminated. If a Conf gets two teams
into the playoffs along with ND, then 3 of the 5 league champs
will be eliminated.

Before it was just a possibility. Now it is becoming fact.
They'll change the number of teams getting in.

Ohio State has a 2-1 playoff record.

One team has a better winning pct.
The "second loss" concept is nothing more than an excuse. Used by fans who prefer the system that relies on debate. Because theres really no legitimate reason to expand. 11-2 while playing an extra game and winning a conference championship. Is better than 11-1 finishing 3rd in your division and playing an FCS team to pad wins....

Its really no different than the prior system aside from playing an extra game for a championship decided off the field. Every years just a debate that still leaves question marks. The flaws just become more clear every year. Time to expand and use actual criteria to qualify
