I expect as usual, the winter meetings will end with the Rangers doing nothing.

Over the past several years, the bulk of all transactions have been done outside of Winter Meetings Week. It is not the spectacle it once was.

They're now saying they have agreed to a 3 year 30 million deal.

I did not think they would sign a guy for 3 years who still has upside. Hope Lynn works out well and proves worth his contract

A guy with injury history, past his prime and hasn't pitched well, for quite awhile and they give him 3 years and 30 million. Bad contract because of the years and this guy isn't really even a 5th starter at this point. I just don't understand their pitching signings

He has mostly been a NL pitcher and that goes a long way with JD.

I've been wondering about that for a couple of years.

What did you guys expect for FA pitcher signings? Morton signs 2 years 30 Million. We get Lynn for 3 years at same price. He will eat innings and reasonably projects as a 3 Rd starter. Is peripherals improved drastically with Yanks and coming off TJS may even do better? And he is not that old.

Just sounds like moaning and groaning and negativity to me.
This was not a bargain basement move

Agreed, Lynn isn't a sexy signing but he projects to eat innings for the next couple years while the young prospects work their way through the system without rushing them

I expected a rotation filler for up to 2 years. The third year bothers me because this team has a hard time finding a way to get rid of Choo and he presently stands in the way of Calhoun. Who will Lynn stand in the way of in 2021? That is my concern. Given our history with Choo it is a legitimate concern.

You are too easily bothered by what you call moaning, groaning and negativity. This team has done a lot of negative things over the last few years and concerns that it will continue is warranted. No one is putting any kind of undue negative spin on things.

There would be nothing wrong with bargain basement moves at the present. Lynn is bargain basement quality though.

There you admit it...... that’s all I wanted. Hahaha 10 million a third year is likely not a dealbreaker IMO
