Redskins QB Alex Smith injury guarantee: $71 million. Get your money while you can, fellas. Circumstances can change in a hurry.

...And this is why Le'Veon Bell sits.

Let this sink in fellow posters, Gruden says about Colt: "I think he's got the skill set that fits perfectly for what we do."

Anyone else see this statement as problematic?

1. "I think..." Colts been here working with Gruden for years and he doesn't know?

2. "...that fits perfect for what we do." Really? C'mon really? why trade for Smith if you had the perfect guy for your system already on board?

Now I ask you guys, is anyone buying this bullshit? If you are, even as an attempt at confidence building, does this really do that for you?

Of course its bull shit, but Colt is all he has got at the moment so he needs to build him up. Having said this, I do think that Colt is better prepared to run this offense than Smith was. Gruden's passing attack is based on timing and throwing to a spot to where your receiver will be. This means that when you actually throw the ball, your receiver may be covered at that point. Smith was never comfortable with that. He would struggle to throw to a spot to what appeared to be a covered receiver. The issue with colt is his arm strength. He can make most of the throws, but he cannot make all of them. But I predict that our passing attack will improve with Colt, giving us a puncher's chance at making the playoffs. I had zero confidence that Smith could get us there. I'm sorry for SMith's injury (I have had the same injury so I can tell you he is done at his age), but I think our offense just improved.

It is bullshit...just like thinking AS was the guy that could lead us...a great leader...smartest football player I have been around? Whatever dude. I trust nothing coming out of people’s mouths in the media...unless it is negative because that is likely the truth.

Sty asked a question , why trade for BKL ? i have been asking that since the trade was made . Why ? one of the reasons i said no was look at his age . he is in decline . i got a sound rebuke

now with a more then likely career ending injury the skins spout out 71 mil for the injury guarantee . our cap takes a huge hit and we didnt get anywhere near the return on the investment (from , smiths play ) and now the injury and in less then one year we are back to needing a qb when we had one to begin with

and lets be real BKL doesnt come close t what colt did . the question would have been how big the route was going to be

Dad, you touch on an important point that our fabulous FO again hosed us on. We gave a 35 year old QB a 3 year guaranteed contract and now are likely saddled with a 71M cap hit over the next few years with nothing to show for it. It might be different if he were 30. Then you can wait for him to heal and still get a few good years out of him. What in the hell were they thinking. On this point, Dean is right. Our FO got desperate and pulled the trigger way too early. What a colossal fuck up.

Alex Smith will finish this season with a quarterback rating of 85.7. Lower than Brock Osweiler and Baker Mayfield. The person or people who made the final decision to, not only trade for Smith but give him $71m in guaranteed money should be fired

This is just typical Redskins. Take what should have been a pretty easy decision and lets see how bad we can screw it up. If Smith can't come back, we are in cap hell.

I have nothing against Colt but he is a backup. He is also injury prone, I am not expecting him to make it through 6 games without missing at least one game.

If he can come back, we are still screwed. The comeback doesn’t matter. The trade and contract are what screwed us.

I honestly don't believe that Dan Snyder still realizes that Bruce is here. He's probably gotten real comfortable with Allen's head firmly stuck up his ass!:D

Bad news, Colt got hurt at practice yesterday, they are calling it a depressive disorder after someone told him that he will be starting for the rest of the season.:D #Stealingmoney

It is a 50/50 thing …. damned if he does and damned if he doesn't. Oh wait, that is a 100% thing.
