Do I think they could be deserving of a playoff spot come seasons end? Yes, but even I can admit they are not a top 4 team right now. Don't know when this turned into a "I said they should play for the title" argument but here we are.

The current UCF team would wipe the floor with your Huskers and my Buffs. They would also be favored in games against 2/3 of Power 5 conference teams. UCF also has a chance to beat that elite 1/3 of Power 5 teams, (2018 Bama the exception), on a neutral site.

You interpret the, "can they pretty much compete with anyone", question however you like.

It's funny b/c when Bama fans got shit for their scheduling Louisville to open this season, the argument they made was that there's no crystal ball to say or know how good the Cards would in the future. And it's true.

Yeah I don't think they do ( as stated in the OP) but I believe the 4 most deserving teams should get in . There are people here who don't believe the 4 most deserving should get in. Many here believe it should he the 4 best and if that's the case then you could certainly make a vakud argument for UCF if a few more upsets occur
