Which wouldn’t change by adding a few more teams.

But it does and you can demonstrate it. Especially if it includes AQ.

I mean the closest thing I've seen to a game not mattering was the SECCG in 2016 between Alabama and Florida. Even if Alabama had lost that game, they would have been in IMO.

Those will become more common when you add games.

Alabama last year - most years that will not be good enough. The previous 3 years Alabama would have been left out. Just so happened that others did worse that year. Add more teams, suddenly it is.

Add in 8 teams and Alabama is in every playoff since like 2008 probably, 2010 being the only possible expection(and it's funny because that team probably could have won it that year after everyone got back at the end of the year, but that's football).

There is really no denying that adding more games rewards teams for doing less and that means you are taking away from the meaning of the regular season.

i think they should go back to just choosing the best team when the regular season and bowl games are over.

Saban has said he wants the playoffs to be done after bowl season. Not sure if he means 4 teams or just 2.

Doesn't seem all that reasonable to me though. Maybe if they move the games up.

How is the PAC12 making it harder for their teams to make the playoffs rather than the Big12 who also plays a nine game conference schedule or the BigTen who also has a 9 game conference schedule, requires it’s teams to play a “P5” non conference opponent and limits the availability to playing FCS opponents?
Firstly, let’s not pretend limiting FCS games is some major thing, there are plenty of shitty teams within the FBS to schedule to make up for that limitation.

Secondly, there’s a couple things to consider, but I’ll just sum it up with conference scheduling. Not that other conferences give their top teams an advantage, but they don’t put tend to put them at a disadvantage. Like you wouldn’t see Ohio State or Oklahoma or Alabama come off a road game to play Michigan or Texas or Auburn coming off a bye. Some of it might have to do with weekday games that the conference has no control over because of their shitty deals, part of it is the commissioner and presidents seem to like parody, and are okay with the conference slipping further and further down the shit spiral as far as football is concerned.

Not sure if you meant parity or parody...but both work. Considering your commissioner, parody sounds more accurate.

You mean they wouldn’t give a perennial division champion a run of @Michigan State, @Michigan and home for Ohio State?

They gave Ohio State back to back games of Michigan State then Michigan. 2019 and 21 Ohio State closes with home against Penn State then on the road to Michigan. 2024 they are at Michigan State then home for Michigan. Michigan State this year has at Penn State then home for Michigan. Last year Michigan had at Wisconsin then home for Ohio State.

BigTen is definitely looking out for their teams.

College football playoff expansion is a when IMO. Not sure conference champs getting 5 of the berths is the way to go.

Yeah, SEC allows teams to make requests and generally does it's best to make them happen. Which is also how Alabama ended up facing 6 teams coming off byes 1 year, but in general they try to keep it down.

It's kind of seems like common sense that conferences should do this to me. They are at the end of the day supposed to be working for the teams, not against them.

Awww they have to play 2 tough games in a row? Poor guys. I’m not saying other conferences make it easy on teams, I’m saying the pac 12 seems to actively dump on its teams.

I disagree. If you know that winning your conference gives you an auto bid then you have no problem playing tough OOC schedule because it doesn't hurt you at the end of the season.
Negative.

The first time a marquee player is lost for the season after playing one of those games you feel are going to come in larger numbers, it spells the end of them.

You will either get to watch mostly freshmen and backups playing in those big games, or they won't be played.

Under your systems some leagues will decide who goes to the playoffs with just 8 games and have many teams they rarely play from their own conference. Some will play 9 and play most of their conference. And yet they count the same. Get lucky and skip most of the tougher teams in your league? No problem, doesn't matter, you get a free pass anyway. Have to play every tough team from your conference and do so on the road and just lose one game? Tough shit. Sucks to be you. BS state beat all of their teams and deserves it more than you.

It's insanity.

You literally were just crying all over yourself because he Big Bad PAC gives teams two tough games in a row.

Also, can I bring up “there are plenty of shitty FBS teams” when team PAC12 start swinging from USC and Stanford’s nuts about “never playing an FCS team” even though they have?

You might need to reread, because that’s not what I was saying. Also, I’m not crying all over myself, I made a passing comment and you got defensive about it for some reason. It wasn’t meant as an excuse or a shot at any other conference, it was a shot at our conference leadership.

Also, I don’t give any kind of shit about who USC and Stanford does and doesn’t play.

UCF should have got a shot. Under the 6 team playoff, they would have.
No, they shouldn't have.

Mid majors should be in their own division with their own championship.

Look, I don't care if UW, Oregon, USC, or someone else wins the Pac this year. NONE of them belongs within 100 miles of the playoffs. There isn't a worthy team in the league this year.

There are years where 2 or 3 of the very best teams are from the same conference.

If you want to see the best of the best going for a shot at the title you CANNOT have auto bids from disparate leagues. It rewards lucky scheduling and entirely punishes really great teams that lose one game.

Yes you make a shot at your conference leadership for doing the same thing that every other conference does.

And it's not always going to be the SEC either. Oklahoma/Texas and Michigan/Ohio St back in the 2000's, etc.
