Position players we are going to sell one LHB, not able to unload Choo, Beltre retires, Profar to 3B, Elvis stays no restructure yet. We pick up a CF 2 year deal, lose either Drew or Rua. Alberto non tendered. DDJ and IKF off bench. Willie gets platooned to increase ABs. Extra ABs due to injuries. We do not go after relief pitching

Perez option not picked up but restructured for 1/2 with option and becomes long relief. Butler off roster clears and to AAA as minor league SP with MLB contract if brought up

I get the distinct feeling we will add another multi year pitcher and another one year SP plus a CF.

With us being so left handed this might be a factor on holding on to Rua, DDJ and Drew.

Regardless of the stats or the fairness of opportunity,IMO DDJ is a valuable bench asset with his speed if we are fortunate to be in the playoffs at some point Maybe there is value for someone else But a long shot to start.

Rua and Drew both have pop in their batbut it sure looks like we are developing Tocci. Maybe they can also be trade additions.

anything over 750k would be too much

I think we trade from the extra LH outfielders but I would stay the course and stick with internal players to fill the positional spots. we are not going to go after high level starting pitching so bring in 3 or 4 low level fa starters. from a list of Gallardo, Pomeranz, Gonzalez, Liriano, Garcia & Tillman we should be able to cheaply sign 3 or 4 of them on maybe 2 year deals (with a club option on the 2nd year)

Sounds like Rua and Drew won't be in the mix. DDJ is still being evaluated.
Surprised if Perez is retained. Young and healthy yes but time has not been good to him as it should. Hope he moves on.

If they are going to trade a LH bat and probably an outfielder it looks like either Gallo or Mazara will be gone. I think trading one of those while keeping the Favored One(Odor) would be a big mistake.

It is just another instance of showing us what a failure the Choo signing was to begin with.

And he was drafted with the 8th overall pick in 2014 and made it to the big leagues only 3 years later. The Rangers may not draft this high again for awhile so they need to knock this pick next June out of the park.

Even Hearn is nowhere near ready for the major leagues so if he was left available I don't think any team could keep him up all year. It would ruin his development for a year though so I would go ahead and protect him.

I think if they see Reid Garrett as a bullpen piece next year then they will protect him. If not they probably don't. Arredondo is an interesting case, but he struggled in limited action at AA. Huang hasn't been impressive at all.

He is a speed unicorn by way of Cincy Hamiltion. To me he is a bench piece useful late game
