Anyone have any experience with Sling TV or any of its brethren?

I'm paying a mint for Direct TV with the NFL package and would like to explore less expensive possibilities. The Sling TV ad is running constantly and talks quite a bit about getting sports on their packages. THere's also YouTube TV, Hulu with Live TV, Direct TV Now, Fubo TV and probably some others. Has anyone had any experience with any of them? If so, could give some thoughts about them, good and bad?

Live anything that's streaming and the internet. Mobdro even has all of the pron channels on it. :thumb:
I voted your first post :useful: but I want to give this one a :useful:²

I'm currently cable free. Netflix, Amazon Prime and picked up an antenna...momo? Homo? something like that. I just plugged it in yesterday but it only gave me, like 65 channels. This Mobdro sounds better.

YoutubeTv or DirectTV now or Sling TV are all decent. The prices are getting higher while cable prices are getting lower finally. FIOS has free cable and phone if you by the 1G internet for 80$. But that does not include the boxes and taxes. Figure more like 110$.

Quality of Mobdro is terrible. Who wants to watch a game in 480P? Get your sports from sites like 720pstreams if you dont want to pay for a service and use Mobdro just for TV. I think the free services will be gone soon too. Dropping like flies.

Also, 65 channels is a ton for an antenna.

You can go the IPTV route. That is basically every channel you can think of (all over the world too) for 1/4 the price of YoutubeTv or DirectTV now or Sling TV. The quality is as good and even better then cable on the high end ones. You get all the pay per views and subscription movie channels. Also any sporting event around the world. The problem is the program guides suck and sometimes they are down for a while and can buffer just like Mobdro.

I may not be able to function without cable :pout: I'm such a goddamn baby when it comes to the intermittent scrambliness. It seriously grinds my gears. I tossed the antenna part (flat, cardboard-like thing) out onto my deck because I felt like it wasn't getting good reception inside. It's annoying. Plus- I can't record anything. My TV might have a setting, but I'm too impatient and dumb to try to figure it out. :mad2:

I understand. I get irritated with it too. At least put the antenna in a closet. They are not supposed to be outside. In window facing the tower is where it really needs to be to work well.

You can go online and check where the nearest tower is. It is possible you are too far away for that tower. It is also possible to be too close. If that is the case then remove the amplifier because that will also scramble the picture if you are too close.

I did antenna, netflix, amazon prime (mostly because I have it for shipping), and NFL game pass/rewind.

Got me everything but MNF for football live, went to a buddies or the bar or watched on my phone (verizon is free NFL).

Basketball was the big miss. I used a reddit that had all the games listed on there for that. Would pull them up on my PS4 and play them.

And just helped my inlaws set up their on demand and smart tv's. So now I've got their charter online thing and can watch all cable, plus HBO go, Showtime, etc... not bad now.

For NFL I go to reddit, find the most upvoted stream, and hook HDMI cable from TV to my laptop.. there is probably some way to cast it that I don't understand, but low tech works fine for me LOL.

Join the club...I'm about 6 mos into cutting cable.

I went with YouTube TV for live, Amazon Prime/Netflix for movies and series....40+ channels.

The good...only $40 a mo., gets me all the major networks, and plenty of sports including the golf channel, it's mobile

The bad...there's a pretty big delay (maybe as much as 5-6 seconds) from on air or cable, picture quality is at the mercy of your internet speed.

Would I do it again?...absolutely, 1st 12 mos, we're saving $1200+ over Comcast, $900+ per yr thereafter.

Yeah, but I have like, 3 PBS channels, 4 Korean channels, 3 chinese channels and 5 spanish channels. So what's that? Someone do the math for me! It's something % of the channels that are pretty useless anyway. I don't even have Bravo! :bawling:

i tried SlingTV. I thought it wasn't great for sports. They'd lay out all their football games in a selection format, but some games didn't appear, and i had to switch to another type of layout to find a game. On their schedule view, I don't think the names of the games appeared. Just "College Football", and you'd have to click on it to see who's playing. My PSVue experience was better.
