I have Mahomey in my money league, a TD-based fantasy league, and well, I am a happy man at the moment. He clearly can't keep it up but I think 35+ TDs looks real right now.

Of course he can keep it up. He is on Pace to throw 80 touchdowns and that is what will happen

Come on, that's just dumb. You're forgetting he's a young QB and aren't accounting for his natural progression. From week 1 to week 2 he improved by 2 TDs, I see no reason that doesn't continue next week. Granted there will be a slow down and he'll max at 9 for a few weeks before topping off for the year with 10 a game(there's only so many minutes in a game). I'd project a more realistic number is 140 TDs (4,6,8,9,9,9,9,10,9,10,9,10,9,10,9,10), with a margin of error of -10 only due to the fact they may sit him in week 17.

Of course there will also be some bonus rushing yards and TDs to the numbers above, but that's just icing on the cake.

Mahomes has a pretty legit shot at scoring multiple TD's through the air on the 49ers this week.

I wasn't impressed. I would have liked to have seen a 7th touchdown yesterday...:thumb:

He's even better than I thought and I thought he'd be great

The question becomes can he continue to overcome the most dreadful defense in the NFL

well, it's not the defenses fault .... Mahomes is scoring too quickly every time so they can't catch their breath between series ...

I doubt the Chiefs are gonna have the worst D in the NFL just looking at the roster, but they're pretty likely going to be bad, especially without Berry (and Sorensen on top of it) to make their safetys as bad as any position group on any NFL team right now. The best defense for them right now is they aren't gonna be playing top 5 DVOA offenses every week.

Sure you can bench Terrance Smith and start the rookie O'Daniel

Sure you can bench Speaks (wtf is he doing as a passrusher?) and just live with Kpassagnon

Sure you can get Berry back at some point

There's really no fixing the CB position group when you got Scandrick out there and a ticking injury bomb in Nelson. Fuller looks very nice though; bit sad he gets hung out to dry a bit, but he's done an admirable job and adverse circumstances, imo.

You're probably stuck with Parker no matter what as well at safety unless I am underestimating how they use Berry when he's back.

Is it okay if I read it in Elroy Patashnik's voice?

yes, the chargers and steelers are both good offenses but they have been absolutely dominated by both of them.

they gave up over a thousand yards to their first 2 opponents and 66 first downs ........ 66 !

I expect most of their games to be shootouts. They are fun games to watch if you like offense!

Eh, an easy devil's advocate argument would be that they gave up a YPA of 7.5 against the Steelers; they averaged 7.7 last year. 2.5 YPC on the ground. That's a very thin tightrope to walk for an offense if you can't get short yardage and need to be near perfect with merely above average YPA efficiency. The Chiefs don't need to be mediocre on D, they just need to not be the worst defense in the NFL like they arguably were last year. 25th would probably be tolerable-ish.

The yardage will just about always look bad when a team passes 60+ times (especially when said team has AB and JuJu) as YPA is vastly more efficient than running the ball in the NFL. Normally that's just garbage time, but clearly that wasn't the case yesterday. It's one of the reasons I argue teams should pass much more than they do.

They will be in a lot of shootouts- but just like the O isn't scoring 40 a game, I'd really doubt the D gives up 30 a game going forward on the same token unless they accumulate more major injuries; like to say Chris Jones, Fuller, or Justin Houston in particular.

I agree they aren't going to average giving up 32 points a game ... that would be all-time bad in the NFL.

They simply have to play quite a bit better as time goes on if they want to win games in January because they can't count on scoring 40 points every game during the playoffs.

If anyone remembers, the Chiefs shot out of the blocks like gangbusters last year as well, taking it to New England in their own house in the first game of the season. They started strugging toward the middle and end last year.

Mahomes looks good but it's a long season. Let's see if he and the Chiefs can keep up anything even close to this pace. That'll be the true test of just how legit he is.

I thought he'd be pretty good as well, but what he practices against is better than the D he played against yesterday...he faced the most dreadful D in the league yesterday...after getting lucky and tying the game...PIT had ZERO 2nd half adjustments to getting their ass kicked...pathetic!

I know Pitt fans are losing patience with Tomlin. What's the feeling you get about ownership feeling the same way or not?
