That’s my point. Let go of Foles (a backup) and we are only 10 million over.

He hasn’t had the consistency to be labeled a great GM but he was always known for being a cap wizard. I’m not sweating it at all. I’m more worried about getting Wentz healthy

But the dead money still counts against the cap. I suspect a restructure would be better off then just a cut to help the cap number. Anyways, I suspect Wentz back by week 3 and should put up good numbers but 2019 is when Wentz will be back to normal.

He has like 20 mill in salary and only 800 grand in dead money. Foles is looong gone.

See... that’s a dumb fucking thing to say!! That doesn’t take into account current roster players pay increases! You are simply looking at THIS YEARS players salaries, taking off Foles salary next year and saying “meh... we’re only 10 million over”.

That’s dumb

No... we are under the cap right now. I’m looking at next years cap where we are 30 million over and Foles hit next year is 20 million with almost no dead money if we let him go. Sorry but I knew what I was talking about.

Position is fine and then it gets better from there. Be smarter.

So a rookie, a one hit wonder and a QB coming off injury walk into a field:crutch:

Punch line TBD in about a months time

That's debatable.

Why can't Philly fans see even if they're only over $10M to start the season they're not in a good place?

You still need to account for:
1. Rookie contracts
2. Wentz new deal
3. Slush fund for injuries
4. Any other contracts that expire 2018. Or go find replacements same thing you still have to pay them.

You know what this sounds like to everyone else not wearing Eagle earmuffs?

KA-CHING$$$$$$$

Of course there is always the rebuild route:noidea:because the 2019 team won't look anything like the 17/18 team.

Foles cut pre 6/1 is a 1.8MM hit, so that leaves you about 12M over the cap. Then you still need a backup QB as Hack and Sudfeld are RFA so they have no cap hit against your 2019 number right now. So one of those three is going to have a number that pushes you further north of the cap. You can cut Bennet and save 7M right there, so maybe that happens.

next up is your RB. You only have Smallwood under contract in 2019. Jay and Sproles both carry no hit against that 12M over.

WR's: Jeffery is under contract for 2019, he has a 20MM cap hit and you can't cut him or you actually are in a worse spot. Wallace is UFA. Agholar has a 10MM hit and you can cut him and walkaway clean. Maybe that is your savings, but leaves one WR with experience.

TE: Ertz and Dallas can't go anywhere, so you are set there

OL: should be fine as long as Peters holds up. Otherwise you don't pick up his 10MM option and you can save some money there, until you spend it to make sure you have an LT

DL: Jernigan, Fletcher, Long, Barnett...$40MM hit there, not much you can walk away from.

LB: you have one under 2019 contract in Nigel and you save almost nothing by cutting him.

DB: you have 3 UFA in the secondary that contribute so you must replace. Jenkins, Mccleod, Jones is all you have back there with experience.

You have a lot of holes to fill and are currently over the cap. You can cut guys, but that just creates more holes.

Cap hell? Nah there is a way to do get around that. Heavy restrictions on who you can get to help? Absolutely.

Well after all, he was so far ahead of schedule and absolute "everyone around the team" was saying it and how good he looked...I remember reading that somewhere:scratch::scratch::scratch:

Good low down but you're being too nice by sugar coating it and saying it's not cap hell. Cap hell is what's causing all the items you referenced above.

Don't forget Wentz is due for a new contract. Philly routinely negotiates the year before the player is due.
Sign and pay rookies.
Slush fund for future injuries.

Or as you somewhat have broached that team will look NOTHING like it does now in 19 to get out from Cap Hell.

Of course luckily for the GMen, by the time we play a second time this year our whole DL may be suspended:gaah:

If Sidney Jones can play free safety in 2019 then there are actually zero problems with the cap or holes on the roster. Nothing is static. We can even bleed some talent since we are so absurdly rich there with 20 returning starters of champion quality.

Lol you have much to learn. I've already educated the majority of eagles fans by now. After half were freaking out the last two years.

I'll give you the short version, but there is further analysis and ample evidence on the Eagles board over consecutive years. The cap is meaningless.

The cap is massagable as fuck.

Your cap hell wishes are as comical as they are imaginary.

The cap is massagable as fuck.

Repetition is the key to your learning.

The cap is massagable as fuck.
