Just volunteered to watch my neighbors kids for 6hrs, I should have had coffee before I made that decision. Now for 6hrs I’ll have a 1yr old (mine), 2yr old (neighbor), 4yr old (neighbor), & newly 5yr old (mine)

1 kid wears me out. I can't imagine 4. I will never understand how my parents handled 7.

7 dear God. I would bring 7 into a grocery store and would leave with the only ones behaving. Not sure how I’m going to manage today.

Stay with 1 kid don’t let wife convince you. I love my 2 kids but wow it’s a handful.

With 7 usually the oldest can start baby sitting the youngest after a short time, but that is well down the line when your sanity has already unraveled. My mom claims the hardest part was after the last kid moved out though, I guess you really get used to having them around. They are a lot of fun to watch in retirement now, that can't sit still and do nothing. I get a lot of pop ins.......they live 340 miles away.

I am curious what makes me the bad one here. I escalated for sure, but returning his cat shit to him is more than fair. Perhaps being as mean with the words this morning was too far, but waking him up at 4 am is a fair response to waking up a child late at night.

the 2 things he did was bad... but you escalated it both times... the poop in the garbage, is annoying but returning it is picking a fight... there is something called picking your battles...

Then the fire works at 11... again, that is wrong, but was that in revenge of the cat poop incident?? or was it just a one time thing?? all neighbours will be loud ONCE in a while... did you at least ask them why they did that??

its one thing to tell them they are wrong, but escalating both situations made you MORE wrong...

But if there is more to the story, like I am hoping, then I can jump back to your side..

I won't argue that I for sure escalated. If he had let off the fireworks in front of his own driveway I would have assumed a one time thing, but setting them off in my drive way made his intentions pretty clear.

I won't argue that me escalating was not the best option, but me and this guy never really got along. His cat constantly using my backyard as his bathroom has been a point of contention for some time. We have discussed it and his response was "Out Door Cat, I can't control it". Overall this is the end result of a long time of us not getting along. I was tired of trying to be civil and finally escalated. No doubt our mutual dislike led to my responses to be more extreme, but at no point did I initiate.

Calling attention to him not having his kids was an over step, I don't disagree with that, but fuck that guy.

You are more wrong and escalating things. Oh wait he isn’t in the draft and you are with a precious vote so I side with Milk.

He put cat shit in my garbage can after garbage had already been collected and did not even bother to tie the bag......I returned it to his porch. His response was to set fireworks off in front of my house at 11 at night to wake up my kid. So at four this morning I rang his doorbell until he answered to ask him if he has his kids so infrequently because he is such a prick. He seemed upset by that.

I did the firework thing before to randoms when I was stupid and young and that shit is a nono. It was one of my friends’ parents luckily so they didnt press charges lolzz. That is way over the top for just trash

see this was the post you should have started with...LOL...

so the fireworks was set on YOUR driveway... and you have had history with confrontation about the Cat....

THAT makes the escalation of both scenarios not just justified BUT also NECESSARY!!!

My dad had 6 brothers and sisters yeah lived off peanut butter and jelly and soup. That’s why my dad never spends money and saves it bc he is used to it

Contacting the police would have been the adult option, but I never have contacted them before. I always figure they have more pressing shit than something like this.

Well got to get ready for the mini terror. Lady also texted me saying kids have running noses from allergies. Awesome.

PS. Everyone in TX has running noses from allergies the dirt is everywhere.

When I was a kid we would have Rice, Milk and Sugar for meals some time. I had no idea it was because we were poor. I asked for that for a birthday meal when I was 17 (I am the youngest, at 17 I was the only one left at home) and my mom thought I was being a dick, but I genuinely had no idea we were poor as a kid and the meal had nostalgia for me.

To me that is some fantastic parenting, we never had a lot, but it never felt like we lacked anything.

Yeah he would always tell me stories how they would share everything and buy the cheapest food as possible. Another food that was a go-to was oatmeal. The bland kind haha

I am not a perfect neighbor either. My dog barks a lot when I am at work. It is an indoor dog, but I am sure he hears it. On his side he probably has several things that he feel makes him the victim. No feud is one sided that is for sure. Gad damn it I hate that guy though. I truly regret the not seeing his kids comment though. That comment is going to make things worse and more likely that he will go over the top in response, and if my kid got caught up in this because I escalated then things would get real ugly. I should probably try to find a way to deescalate at this point.

The only way I see is to give a kudos to his response and then ignore it. Which I will do as long as it has no impact on my kid.
