Depends on the timing.

If they can get a trade for Kawhi completed first, they can then sign both Lebron and PG as long as they are able to move Deng's contract in the trade.

If they sign Lebron and PG first, then they can't trade for Kawhi because they will have waived Deng and stretched his contract.

I don't remember how it was done (just that it seemed complicated), but I remember reading an article where they said that the Lakers might be able to get Lebron and PG this summer and then clear space for Kawhi next summer.

I could see the Spurs dragging their feet on this. But I wouldn't be surprised if by the start of the 2019-2020 season, that the Lakers have a starting 3 of Lebron/George/Kawhi.

Just a novice basketball fan here. My question is can they trade Randle and Ball plus draft picks for KL? I think they will most likely get both Lebron and PG no matter what. Just not sure how they make room for KL both from a money and personnel standpoint.

The Spurs don't want Ball.

Best/most likely scenario is that they involve a 3rd team (Magic are rumored) to take Ball and Deng, the assets from that 3rd team (probably picks) goes to the Spurs along with Ingram, Kuzma (and may 1 or 2 of the Lakers picks from this past draft) and picks.

If the Spurs drag their feet, I doubt the Lakers get all 3. I doubt they do anyway, but unless Lebron and PG are willing to be patient, they definitely won't get all 3 if the Spurs drag this out very long.

Just re-read this and saw you said 2019-20. That's possible.

If it happens that way then I think 1 of 2 things happened.

Someone got desperate and took a flyer on convincing Kawhi to stay by beating the Lakers offer.

Only 1 or none of Lebron and PG signed with the Lakers and one or both signed 1 and 1 deals while the Lakers preserved their cap space and created room for 3 max guys.

I'd have to think that the 3 have had in-depth talks about playing together in LA and making it happen. For Lebron, you have 2 all star players that match up perfectly against the Warriors and gives you more than a puncher's chance to win a title - I'd almost guarantee at least 1 in the next 4 years, which would be a great success for his legacy compared to MJ (the whole being the man on 3 different franchises to win a title).

Plus, in LA, you can easily get quality veterans to play for the veteran's minimum to help win a title. At the very least, it'd a much easier recruiting pitch than Cleveland, Ohio if anything.

Yeah, I think the fact that all 3 have undoubtedly had conversations is the likely wild card in all of this. We don't know what has been said between them and what contingency plans they have if things don't go the way they want them to.

Love you man.

It just makes sense. I just don't see it how it happens. Plus, I need a reason to cheer against the Lakers again. Tired of getting along with the Lakers contingent :D

So....on First Take, Stephen A. Smith is saying that sources are telling him that Dan Gilbert is hoping Lebron leaves so he can have his team back. LOL

What a fucking joke that guy is.

Yup. Also, as we've all learned, Gilbert's not the type of guy that thinks about long-term consequences - letter to Lebron when he left, asking for punitive tax penalties, now presumably wants Lebron to leave.

Rich men don't care about the luxury tax penalties.....you haven't learned that by now?

Oh, I agree. We'll ignore that he didn't want to pay David Griffin though.

I still think Nick Wright is worse.
