That was a big surprise. He only has 1 other win since he got his card before 2014, but his worst US Open finish is T-18 so apparently he likes a tough layout.

It was the same thing at Chambers bay. Thing is that in conditions like this where it's dry and thirsty for water it starts to get pretty bumpy. Greens keeper at my course explained it to me. He was telling me that the Chambers Bay open was going to be a disaster as well 6 months before it happened. But the USGA doesn't like them watering greens too much because "the US OPEN CAN'T HAVE GUYS DOUBLE-DIGITS UNDER PAR!!!!!" Maybe if they'd fix the equipment problem then it wouldn't be an issue.

My God, only Paul Azinger could run down the mistakes a guy made who just tied the US Open record shooting a 63.

And not only that, he incorrectly states the Fleetwood misread the putt on 18.
a 12 year old golfer could tell you the difference between a misread putt and a putt that is on line but did not have enough pace.

Even Fleetwood stated post round that he did not hit hard enough.

I like Azinger. He tells it like it is and doesn't sugar coat it. He has a point though as Fleetwood had three very make-able putts at the end and left than all short. He was feeling the pressure once he had the record tied. Credit to him though, he played some rock solid golf but his 63 could very easily have been a 61 if the pressure hadn't gotten to him.

It's the poa annua grass. A lot of seaside courses use it. Pebble Beach for instance. It's bumpier. I don't know what it's advantages are but many courses use it. If you watch old film of golf tournaments, all putting surfaces used to be slower and bumpier than they are now.

Reed is quickly playing himself out of it and now Koepka hits a terrible shot on 11 too. The ball is on a tee, they have PW in their hands and they hit it 25 yards long and left on 11. They're feeling it. Fleetwood could be sitting pretty after all.
