You probably know as well as I that that rule is designed for unintentionally hitting a moving ball like when the wind blows your ball just as you get ready to putt it or the ball moves a little on the fairway and you still complete your swing and hit it while its moving. It was never intended to help a player gain an advantage by intentionally breaking the rules. Either you know that or you are simply a Phil apologist and there is no point in debating it with you.
Actually the rule doesn't state whether a player intentionally or unintentionally hits a moving ball. It is a two stroke penalty either way.

His fans think he'll just go and keep winning majors and the sports media echo that sentiment. No question he is a media darling.
I think his championship days are past him. the difference between him and Johnson the first two days was astonishing.

Tiger has had 3 back surgeries in the past 5 years and isn't the player he once was.

Agreed. But the "intent" of the rule is clear and I think that's what counts.
I've always been a big fan of Mickelson and it actually brought tears to my eyes when he won that first Masters but I am very disappointed in him this week. Of all people, he would be the last that I would think would pull that shit.

I don't know how you play golf with your spine fused like that. he's had his day and I don't really have any sympathy for him nor do I root for him. His on-course behavior was just too boorish

I got a funny story kind of about that. When I'm in golf rage mode I'm a slam the club on the fairway kind of guy. So I'm playing and I'm like 155 out and pull out my 7, take a swing, and the club breaks at the grip between my left and right hand. So I look at it and thing "All that pounding was stupid". Then I notice the huge gash in my glove and a bunch of blood pouring out of my palm. I was having a pretty good round on top of it and had to walk off the course at the 8th hole. Last time I've pounded a club.

Dude!

The USGA should ask themselves whether its more fun watching this type of golf on Sunday or what we saw on Saturday and quit trying to trick these courses up. The cream will rise to the top anyway.
I vote for today's golf. Its fun to watch these guys get aggressive and try to make birdies.

Yes. This is perfect, the setup today. Give them a chance and may the best man win.

Agreed. The man who plays the best will win; not the man who simply survives.

I sure don't want a foreigner to win this event but I am really admiring Fleetwood's tenacity today. He and Reed are iron-willed...........Gotta love the hair too.

I give Phil a pass as he's been a great ambassador for golf and takes time to sign autographs and pose for pictures with fans. Give the guy a break.

It's starting to look like Koepka or Reed unless the wind picks up or DJ gets it together. Even if Fleetwood makes it at 18 to tie them, they should both go a bit lower the way the course is playing today. Back-to-back US Opens vs back-to-back majors.

Tiger was a great player but had no time for his fans and pouted everytime he made a bad shot. He may be great but it's always been about him.

I was at last years US Open when Koepka blew away the field. This guy is highly underrated.

Could not bring myself to root against Fleetwood on that last putt. He played great and had a shot at history that he will never have again. But I can't tolerate a foreigner holding this trophy.

He has. He's a model of how a player should conduct himself on and around the course. That's what makes this inexcusable breach of etiquette so disappointing.

Yep. The ego and arrogance were massive. He's getting his come-uppance now and I'm enjoying it. The only thing that would make it more fun is if he were having meltdowns on the course about it instead of taking it in stride like he seems to be doing.

That was a big surprise. He only has 1 other win since he got his card before 2014, but his worst US Open finish is T-18 so apparently he likes a tough layout.

Koepka looks to be swinging the club very well today too. Just like Reed.

Tiger has nothing to prove as he's won 16 Majors. He should be happy he can still play at this level after all those operations.
