Brian Burke was on Hockey Central at noon, and his take on Wilson was there is a sliding scale attached to discipline (obvious, but its the first time I recall anyone attached to the Player Safety office admit it). They view finals games each as ten games in the regular season. So, the league was looking at it as "is this something that would garner a ten game suspension in the regular season?" The answer is no, so... no further action.

He also said that exact same play on it's own in October is 2-3 games. Maybe more with history.

I don't think I know anything more now than I did yesterday, but at least it is confirmed.

Now, as to whether the league is correct in "tolerating" more because of the time of year is open for debate.

Yeah well you can him that Marchessault is NOT French for "open ice hammer me when the puck is in a different county".

Flawed logic (big surprise).

If Marchessault misses a game due to the hit, then its like he missed 10 games, right Burkie? Isn't severity of an injury/time missed due to injury also a factor?

I liked this, then undid it so I could like it again.

That's rich coming from Burke as his Cup win saw Pronger twice suspended in the 07 playoffs. There is no way in hell what Pronger did warranted 20 games of regular season suspension time, though, to be fair, the playoff mode on the NHL wheel of justice was originally called Pronger mode.

He said finals games, not just playoffs.

It's pretty consistent with the mock DOPP trial episode he did with Marek/Friedman. Basically it's a dart board until an injury comes in AFTER a hit. Just proof you can change the monkey in charge of punishment but you can't add logic

No one mentioned in this thread about John "my captain is an N word" Beezer getting promoted within USA hockey. Nothing says growing the game like putting a guy in a position who calls his own players the N word. USA hockey trying to one up Hockey Canada after the CHL import goalie ban.

Nothing but white North Americans in ALL of our junior leagues on this continent!

This was in the finals that year and he got nothing. Maybe this is what Burke is basing his rationale on. :noidea:

I think if that is in this year's finals he gets at least a game.

Pronger did get suspended one game for his elbow there on McAmmond. He also got suspended a couple of weeks prior to that for smashing Holmstrom's face into the glass in the conference finals. But there should be a highlights package of what he got away with on that Cup run. My god he was a vicious player.

Sens fan here. I like the fact they're keeping Magnus. Guy is a good bottom line player IMO.

So on the whole losing topic...
We know Hainsey got his never in the playoff drought taken care of last season and Evan Kane made it this year with the Sharks.
Who is the longest left? My only thought is someone on Buffalo like Zack Bogosian, who also played for some bad Trasher/Jet teams.

Correct with Bogosian. Jeff Skinner is 2nd on the list.

Should probably shit on Ray Bourque's HOF plaque. He couldn't even win it with the Broons.
