This should be a daily ritual for everyone.

You head into a series at home, leading the division by 1.5 games with your two aces going the first two games against a guy making his MLB debut, and a guy that is basically still a rookie.

You exit the series trailing in the division by 1.5 games.

You got outscored 21-2 in the series.

You got shutout the final two games of the series, and came within 7 outs of being no hit by a soft tosser in the series finale.

And Noah Syndergaard has still never beaten the Braves.

The Mets haven't won back to back games since April 10th-11th

Basically their entire offense qualifies for social security.

And this Matt Harvey situation is gonna get ugly in a hurry, but the bad thing is, his replacement allowed 6 earned runs in 4.2 innings today and LOWERED his ERA by nearly 5 runs. But, Harvey did allow 5 runs in less than 2 innings of relief today as well, so he does have that going for him.

I told everyone, don't be fooled by that quick start. It was basically everyone else in the division playing shitty for a month, and now things have caught up to reality

Thank god for the Marlins

Sounds about right.

Tebow will be playing in Queens by July, because we will need warm bodies and we will need to sell tickets.

And this isn't exactly a bad team, if you're only looking at the roster of players...It's just that, we're the Mets.

I watched that Braves/Mets game yesterday. The Braves are a great team but I thought the Mets would have eked out a game or even 2 this series given they're off to a good start and were the home team.

Yep, good teams don't get swept at home by their division rivals. They looked like they gave up yesterday

The Mets strategy this year is pray the starters go 7 innings and that they hit 4+ home runs a game. If that doesn't happen they lose. Not a great strategy.

Meh.
It's May 4th.

The MLB season in a nutshell. It applies to basically most, if not every team at various points, be it from week to week +/or month to month all throughout the season.

I'll also add:

Don't get me wrong. Was that previous series a disappointment?
Yes...in more ways than 1.
Am I worried? No...but there was a brief cause for concern..and now it's just an afterthought.
I'm positive they've already put it behind them and are focused on the immediate task ahead.

If that series had played out the way it did during the final week of the regular season with a division title or playoff berth on the line then I'd definitely be worried.

Not meaning to sound like a cliché...but there's still a long way to go before anything is settled one way or another in the NL east, as well as in the other divisions, in both leagues.

We aren't even at the 1/4 point yet. Teams heat up & Teams cool down.

Anyone puffing out and pounding their chests over a series this early in the season is free to do so...I have no problem with that....however, I do have a problem with alarmists and defeatists claiming the worst case scenarios will happen, even though it has gone that way in the past for the Mets on several occasions.
That being said, and as the season progresses, percentages indicate that won't necessarily be the case this time around.

Through thick & thin.

It's all good, y'all.

Here is what needs to happen

They need to take a cue from the crosstown rivals

The Yankees had a barren farm system, and came to the realization they needed to trade key pieces and start it all from scratch

The Mets have to stop putting the Adrian Gonzalez/Todd Frazier like band aids on gaping wounds, and trade any value they have

Starting with Cespedes and Familia

And maybe go as far as De Grom or Noah, who would bring back enough to reload that entire organization

The Yanks farm system wasn't all that bare. They had Judge, Sanchez, Severino and some really good young arms like Chad Green. They robbed Arizona of Didi, for another young player, traded Adam Warren for Starling Castro and caught lightning in a bottle when there was bidding wars for Chapman (Who they got for 4 draft picks) and Miller. They also traded some of their previous picks for Gray most of which were well thought of.
Do you remember a few years back when Cashman didn't resign Robertson, signed Andrew Miller and people accused him of being cheap?
The problem with the Mets is they haven't drafted worth a shit since Alderson came on board. That's probably why they got Omar Minaya back, at least he could identify talent.
