Sure, No one knows for sure. The likelihood of this happening is very slim, assuming our FO would even want to consider this.
All I know is this, we have been rolling out hot garbage at RB for years now. Are there any guarantees that Barkley will stay healthy or be productive for the next decade? Of course not. But we have seen in the past years how a Todd Gurley, Zeke Elliott, Adrian Peterson, etc. can change a team. Sb is as much of a sure bet as any of those guys were. We could continue drafting guys in the 2nd-4th round, but we are much more likely to end up with more Fat Rob/Matt Jones guys than we are to get a David Johnson/Tyreek Hill.
And no. There have been no reports that we are actively trying to move up for him. But it’s no secret RB is high on our list. So should he fall a bit, a trade could be in play.
This draft is loaded w/ RB talent. Sure Barkley is the cream of the crop, but there are lots of other RBs who would be much better then any RBs the Skins have had in a very long time. Sure there have been guys like Elliot, Gurley & Fournette who have been high picks & very effective. However - there have also been guys like Bell, Hunt, McCoy & Kamara who have done just as much or more & were drafted in the 2nd & 3rd rds & later.
The guys you mention for the Skins were just bad picks or just avg RBs in the 1st place. That should not stop them from drafting quality RBs in the 2nd rd or beyond. I just take issue w/ trading up to get a RB. I don't even believe that it is warranted for a QB unless the guy is very special. No RB is worthy of trading 2 #1s (& more) since the injury factor makes this a huge risk.
Oh well - this trade is not even a remote possibility for the Redskins so it doesn't matter.
