id like to see the NFL re-align where the rest of the league gets to enjoy the jets/bills and dolphins more, and not just one team gets that privilege

  • NFL player contracts should be fully guaranteed and fully count against the salary cap (including signing bonuses and buy-outs) - Fully guaranteed would not include if they are cut would it?
  • Contracts for a single player cannot exceed 10% of a team's salary cap for UFAs or 12% for retained players (at the time of signing) and cannot exceed 5 years in term. - I like this one except the 5 year term. Why not longer if they wanted?
  • A 16-team NFL minor league should be established with a two-team (1 NFC; 1 AFC - regional) shared affiliate for each team. 60-man rosters (30 prospects per team). High school graduate requirement; no NCAA necessary. Eliminate practice squads. - This would be cool. If this replaced practice squads, wouldn't it have to be played when the NFL season is? I'm not sure it would survive competing against the NFL and College Football.
  • Salary cap max includes the 30 players in the team's minor league affiliate.
  • Once a contract is signed, the team is on the hook for its full agreed amount. There'd be no such thing as "getting cut". They'd have to buy out the contract. With a direct minor league affiliate, they could assign a player to the minors with no cap penalty since the cap counts for the full allotment of players.
  • The 5-year max term is there to save idiot GMs from themselves. With fully-guaranteed contracts, if you don't cap the term, poorly run franchises will be crippled with bad contracts and it will aversely effect competitive balance of the whole league.
  • Yes, the minor league affiliate would have the same season timeframe and duration as their NFL affiliate - just as the NHL, NBA and MLB does. Players could get called up and sent down to their minor league affiliate as needed with no/minimal penalty (maybe a waiver system). The 16 minor league teams would be owned and operated by the collective NFL, not individual owners. Each NFL owner/team would kick-in equally to the minor affiliate pot and operating costs would be covered through that pot. If one minor affiliate location flops, the NFL has the freedom to relocate that franchise as needed. Keeping affiliations regional would help boost interest. i.e. the Saints and Jaguars could be paired and put their affiliate in Mobile.

The two feet down rule with possession from 25 years ago is way better than the current rule. The current rule is confusing and gives the refs and pinheads in NYC the power to decide games.

The Jaguars are getting new uniforms for next season...to be revealed in April I believe. It's long overdue, but what are the odds they still suck? I would ditch the teal, go with a black helmet, gold jerseys, and black pants with a gold stripe down the leg. The gold helmet would work also, but they damn sure need to get rid of the two-toned crap they've had for 5 years.

Tracking chips in the footballs.
The NFL has been toying with this forever. It will save video review time and enhance video review.

The field is fitted with sensors so it can track the chips in the footballs. The chip can tell you when the ball crosses goal lines or first down markers etc. Lots of details to work out for sure but I think it would be invaluable.

How is a chip in the ball gonna know when a players knee is down or when he is touched down?

Another poster suggested lasers. That sounds better and more accurate to me.

It would be set up to work in conjunction with video review.
They would both work off a synchronized clock. You see the exact time his knee hit the ground with video and the exact time the sensor is tripped when the balls crosses the goal line or first down marker.

ditch the teal? you crazy? that's their flagship color, they're the only team that wears a proper shade of it, now that the dolphins have theirs all fucked up. i hear the uniform will be a return to a more "traditional" uniform, ditching their two-tone helmet, thank GOD. this change was overdue the moment they unveiled their current monstrosities 5 years ago.

Um, no. this is the NFL, not 5th grader after-school league. special teams is as much a part of football as the lateral.

Get rid of the soccer players.

It’s also the bigger risk to player safety

it'll never happen, but in my lifetime, i'd love to see the steelers make a switch to the NFC, and specifically get placed within the NFC East. Have 'em switch out with the Redskins, so you have Giants, Eagles, Cowboys and Steelers.

football is a dangerous sport. there are inherent risks involved. the game's fabric cannot be wiped out to such a degree in the name of this bogus quest for "safety"

Lol. It’s like the least fabric you can even have.

And it’s just a silly part of the game. Completely unnecessary. Little baby kickers should not have nearly as much power as they do.

"little baby kickers" lol ok tough nuts. you understand why it's called "football", right? because the point of the game is to have each possession end in someone's foot hitting the ball. either a punt or a fg, followed by a kickoff. if it's such a problem in your eyes, then maybe teams need to start a trend of employing kickers the size of middle linebackers. again, your idea is idiotic. the day they actually make such a move, i will no longer be a fan, the game will lose me (and no doubt, millions who share my opinion).

If people used your garbage argument for Baseball then catching a ball off of one hop would still be an out.

2 hours and that's the response you come up with? lol so in other words, you don't really have a "good" reason, you just like hearing yourself say "safety". cool.
