They would have had about 4-5 seconds left. Time didn't expire until right before Diggs went into the end zone.
Either way, time for a FG attempt, but not enough time to run a play before the FG attempt.

I don't see it.
The whole DPI thing does make sense. If he hit digs when he dove, it would have been DPI. He should have approached the play with more control. It looks like he had plenty of time to assess the play, almost completely stop and wrap Diggs up.
Just horrible awareness.
It's hard to tackle when your head is down and your eyes are closed.
And you are stepping away from and turning away from the tackle and diving into your own man.
This is all on #43. What a dumb ass. He didn't even attempt to use his arms. This should embarrass him for years to come. This might have been the worst defense I have ever seen.
He doesn't just miss, it literally looks like 43 is trying to take out his own player. This is what happens when you don't teach the fundamentals of tackling. His head is down, he doesn't wrap up, poor angle, etc.
I feel bad for the young man, but that was absolutely horrible.
Not only that, #20 is just lagging behind the play and making very little effort. Just lazy defense. The entire saints coaching staff should be embarrassed.
And please don't start acting like the fix was in conspiracy guys.
It's obvious. The defender got their slightly before the ball and he mind fucked himself not wanting to get a PI penalty. Young dude and he'll learn.
He couldn't tackle the guy before the ball got there could he?
Pathetic
Just horrible awareness. I feel bad for him as well. He had a great season and he will be remembered for that play. Good thing he is so young. He has plenty of time to redeem himself. It wasn't bad form. It looked as if he's purposely ducked trying to avoid him completely, not tackle him. As someone else said, he got there a beat early and just went brain dead. I feel sorry for the guy.
Explain Williams pulling Diggs up to keep the clock moving on the previous catch if he was part of a fix.And you are stepping away from and turning away from the tackle and diving into your own man.

Yeah, because he knew with certainty that he'd get another chance to blow the game.Has no bearing on an obviously deliberate missed tackle.
It does have a bearing on said conspiracy theory. So...Has no bearing on an obviously deliberate missed tackle.
It does have a bearing on said conspiracy theory. So...
The problem with your analysis is you never considered that it's possible.Except that he made the previous tackle perfectly fine, and helped hold Diggs up to try and burn more clock. Unless he knew for 100% certain that he'd have another chance to "make up" for not missing the tackle earlier, this makes no sense.
And, he didn't even look to see if he was going to take out his teammate "on accident". If he planned on taking a dive, you think he'd guarantee taking out his teammate.
