Well that makes it even a dumber call. Once Big Ben steps out the ruse is off. Having all your eggs in one basket doesn't seem prudent. That and you certainly need a smarter QB. One that doesn't try and force it if the ruse didn't work. Throw it out of the EZ had to have been part of the play.

So if what you're saying was true this is ALL on Big Ben. That makes it even more sad he tried throwing his coaches under the bus.

Ok, after reading thru everything let me clarify this whole cluster fuck.......

They ran to the line and Ben was going to clock it, (spike the ball) Haley was telling into his head set, don't clock it.
Which is what everyone is saying Ben threw the coaches under the bus for. In Ben's defence, he didn't have the right personnel on the field to fake clock it, the fake is a fade out to the corner with AB, who we all know was not on the field. So the only one they had on the field for the fake was Eli, who is suppose to slant in to distract coverage from the fade route. So Ben had one and only one option for a WR, the inside slant to Eli. Of coarse as soon as he seen what a cluster fuck it was, he should of spiked it, BUT earlier this season they had a similar situation and Ben called a time out. Well Haley went ape Shit screaming at him on national tv because Ben did not like the play and did not like the coverage the defense was showing him. But Haley bitched him out for it.
That being now known, did Ben think fuck it asshole wants me to throw it, what choice do I have......

Todd Haley is a Fuckin Jack off and deserves to be under the bus and ran over several times. He is predictable in his play calling and only the talent of that offense saves his sorry ass. The game against the Pats was one of his better games, but it still wasnt all that great. When Ben runs the no huddle and calls his own plays, that offense is deadly good, but Haley doesn't let him do that, at all.

Now imagine a QB like Brady being undermined on his play calling or calling a time out because he didn't like what he saw on the field and getting bitched at for it.....how long do you think he'd be coaching your offense???? This Shit with Haley has gone on for years, and they don't do Shit to him. Ben is no Joe Montana, or Tom Brady. But he sure as fuck isn't a Jay Cutler, or Blake Bortles, and Haley treats Ben like this.

So it's not on Big Ben, it's on the dick head who was yelling, don't clock it......fuck face Haley. Who deserved to be thrown under the bus and ran over SEVERAL fucking times!!!!

That still doesn't excuse him from not doing the prudent thing by throwing it into the third row seating, once he saw the coverage, and then allow to kick a field goal. The int is all Ben's, not the coaching staff.

they did know the play

Sorry but no one knew what the play was except for Eli and Ben. If the entire team knew what the play was, they wouldn't have just stood there wondering what Ben was doing.

The playcall wasn’t stupid. The throw was. That loss is on Ben.

Had the sideline trusted Ben to know what to do and let him call the shots on the field, the ball would've been spiked and the game would've been decided in OT. If we lost in OT, I'd of been okay with that because at least we made smart decisions.

I'm going to say it was Ben - he has to be smarter with the ball in a crucial situation... like not throw it into the teeth of the defense loaded with DBs - especially when the play calls for one receiver out in pattern. He could have thrown it thru/over the endzone.

Yup, not much different than Pete Carroll and Bevelle making the worst call in big sports history

Still doesnt mean Wilson has to force the throw he did to the worst WR on his roster

I can't believe how many of you idiots think what they did was wrong.

First, they had the ball inside the 10 yard line, and people think it would h ave been a better idea to go to OT? There are not many times in football that you're more likely to score a TD than having the ball inside the 10. Going to OT there's a 50% chance the other team gets the ball first anyway, and a TD by them ends the game.

Second there was time for one play, either spike it to stop the clock, give up and just let the Pats back in the game. Or take a shot to the endzone. Literally the only way that can hurt you is with an INT. Theres a much higher chance of a TD than an Int, and probably a higher chance of an incomplete than anything. Big Ben is a veteran future HoF QB, even knowing how it did turnout, I still think it was the right call to trust him.

There was probably less than 5% chance of that ball being intercepted, meaning still 95%+ chance of inning the game outright or still kicking the FG and going to OT.

The lot of you are being as reactionary as ESPN or something.

How many people are saying they shouldn't have gone for the TD? I think @Terry Rode was the only one who said they should have just spiked it and gone to OT.

Most everyone here said that 1. They should have had a play ready to go, 2. They shouldn't have tried a fake spike, 3. It was a horrible decision by Ben

Or a combination of all three.

Yeah technically I'm the only idiot who really thinks they should've spiked it. I'm the idiot, even though I trust my HoF QB better in an OT situation where you have time to come up with a gameplan than a situation where you're rushing to the line and your instinct is to spike the ball but then the sideline tells you not to and you only have 1 receiver on the same page as you and you expect the play to go well and you end up making a stupid throw.

Sorry, but because of how important that win was, I wouldn't have taken that chance. We would be guaranteed #1 seed right now. But no, we MIGHT be a 3 seed if we play down to the Texans and Browns like we've played down to bad teams all year.

Did I call you an idiot? Talk to the guy who called you an idiot. I said I thought your approach would be way too conservative.

Part of the point? You said they knew what the play was. They didn't know until last second and only 2 of them knew. How does that make a play like that successful? If they let Ben do what he was gonna do, which is spike the ball, Boz kicks the FG and they go into OT. We are in a position now where we could be the 3rd seed if we play down to the Texans and Browns. Need to play smart in December. We did not play smart in the last 2 plays of that game.
