It was a dumb decision to "fake spike" or whatever you want to call it. I think we can all agree on that. However, if somehow it would've actually worked and they scored a TD then everyone would be saying how genius of a move it was.

Regardless of who made the decisions, it came down to being too cute with a fake spike. Going for it was fine. A fake spike was not.

It was a mistake. An error in judgement.
Bad decisions always look stupid after the fact.....

Lack of preparation and communication.
Pittsburgh or many of the players and coaches weren't on the same page. They should've already known what the play was after the 2nd down play. You always call two plays in the huddle.

Watch the replay. Ben is kneeling on one knee off by himself. He is not talking to the OC about what they are gonna do if the play is overturned. That review took a long time!! Plenty of time to figure out what to do. Bens dislike of Haley and refusal to work with him (and vice versa) cost them the game.

The intent (I think) was with 14 secs to go they thought they could take one shot at the win and kick the FG if they were incomplete...Ben completed it...to the wrong team.

That seems really silly. Why not run one pass to the end zone?
