So we still sticking with the Kirk aint that good, it was the talent around him mantra?? Really?
Wut.

Not to offend any one with special needs, or family members that have special needs here... (obligatory PC disclaimer there)
We are the Redskins... we put the SPECIAL in Special teams.
Are they? Garçon is a solid WR and far from great IMO. He is my kind of player though. Give me hard nosed guys like Hines Ward and I am happy.
DeSean is not great either. He is doing nothing with Winston throwing and Evans on the other side.
Our OL is good as pass protection when healthy. I question if they are a complete line.
Again, we were doing well at the beginning of the season. It is hard to judge since.
I mean I think we can both agree they're very good receivers coupled with an elite tight end, very good slot receiver, and great OL. That's pretty good right there.
I still believe that when healthy this OL does well w/ the run. Several of them pull as well as anyone in the NFL. Now perhaps they need a tweak or two but nothing major IMO (assuming health). Oh yeah - the team also needs to find a more complete back in the upcoming draft, and several should be available to them.
No idea. Don't really care to come up with a definition. Don't think it matters.
Maybe a guy good enough to win a SB.
Why do you believe the line can run block well? I would say there is no proof of that.
Example - the Rams game - w/ a relatively healthy OL & some backs still healthy they did well. We have also seen this at times with Perine. Guys like Williams, Scherff & even Long run block pretty well. Like I said may need a tweak or two @ OL & certainly they need a true starting, full time RB (Perine can help but don't think he is that guy).
Being able to run block is about consistency as well. A game or two is not good run blocking.
Rams give up 120 yards rushing per game at 4.7 YPC. We had a great rushing game with 229 total, severely aided by the outlier 61 yard rush by CT.
NO gives up 4.5 YPC totaling 115 per game. We had a good rushing game totaling 156yards; however, that was likely due to a pick your poison option by the Saints. We lost the game because we could not run when we needed it to kill the clock going 6 yards, 3yards, -1 yard leading to a punt and ultimately a loss.
NYG give up 4.3 YPC totaling 128 each game. We ran for 122yards in the game which is actually below average.
Only 4 teams have a worse YPC than we do. We also rank 20th in adjusted line yards.
So lets cut to the chase.. whats your definition of a franchise QB??
Let me take a shot at this one. A "franchise QB" is one who has been deemed good enough to start consistently for an NFL franchise.
Thanks for not ducking the question Sty.
So now, lets assume Kirk fits into this group.
Does it not make sense to do what ever (reasonably) to keep such a player if you have him in the building already??
Depends...on whether or not it is both economically and reasonably proper for both parties to come to that conclusion. I personally believe that both Bruce and Dan want Kirk to stay but at their price. I don't believe that Kirk really wants to go, but business being what it is, makes it an easy decision for him to move on.
What we as fan/followers/supporters of the sport sometimes fail to recognize is there is a business side of this game. In it there are players who see how fleeting their window of opportunity is, while the business owners see them as product. Replaceable product.
List of Washington Redskins starting quarterbacks
Yep - I get it. However - take a look at the list of QBs that proceeded Cousins - in particular during the Snyder era. Since 2001 show me any of those QBs worth a crap (for more than a handful of games) beyond the 2012 season for RG3 & the last several seasons for Cousins.
What in the hell makes anyone believe that Snyder and his lackeys will find a good replacement for Cousins? I have zero faith in that process (could be pleasantly surprised but confidence factor is nil). I am sure that Snyder & Allen feel otherwise & therein lies the problem. Sigh.
I understand your pt, but it is kind of hard to be consistent when you are missing your best blockers & you pretty much don't have the same starting lineup from week to week. Also - very hard to be consistent when you are down to your 3rd & 4th string RB.
I am just stating that I truly believe that they have several very good run blocking O lineman. Sure they need to perhaps replace & develop a few more (w/ one of the best OL coaches in the NFL). I see no reason that this cannot happen with some decent health & the acquisition of a quality full time RB in the draft.
BTW - you can't just state that a given rushing total doesn't mean as much due to one big run (e.g. 61 yd run by Thompson). Almost all big rushing games include at least one very long run. Skins ran very well that day against Rams & sure the Rams defense helped, but I truly believe that it goes beyond that. We really can't tell this season due to the ridiculous amt of injuries.
