You need to find your Dantonio.

So does Michigan.

Riley at OU took over a pretty healthy program, so its' a bit different. I still think Tenn's best option is trying to grab and up and coming coordinator rather than going for these has-been head coaching types like Schiano and Miles. You need to find your Dantonio.
Like Tee Martin? :susp:

Tennessee's roster isn't bad, talent wise. On par with Oklahoma or even better, if you go by recruiting sites. Whoever takes over Tennessee isn't going to be working with C-USA level talent here. I don't think getting things turned around would be as difficult as some believe.

It's just going to come down to coaching, coaching, coaching...plain and simple. I truly believe the right folks in place can have this team competing for the East again in two years.

Heard them talking about it on Dan Patrick today. They were saying that it was some off-hand comment and it's the only time Schiano's name was ever mentioned. They said that over the years, through hundreds of hours of depositions and thousands of pages of court documents...Schiano's name is not mentioned even one time.
Yep, and those idiotic rednecks rallied and got the best choice for them fired before he could even start.

Yet. You insinuated I celebrated it?

Classy, you fucking prick.

Just playing devil's advocate here, DJ, but there is a difference between celebrating someone who has been accused of r*pe and celebrating a r*pe accusation.

It'd be hard to argue that Lakers fans haven't done the former, and (surprisingly) @KingKoolKat75 makes an interesting point by bringing it up in the context of you deriding Schiano for his alleged role in the Sandusky cover up.

I tend to lean more towards the "if there's smoke, there's fire" approach like @Chewbaccer, and have to admit, I'm not psyched about his position at tOSU. On the other hand, @Used 2 B Hu makes some very valid observations about the court of public opinion convicting someone without a real conviction or even solid proof.

It's a complex situation that I honestly don't know enough about to draw any serious conclusion. At this point, I wish Schiano wasn't associated with tOSU, but then again, if he was unaware of what Sandusky was doing, it would be a shame for him to pay a price for Sandusky's crimes.

Here's the thing.....he's a douche-bag so it isn't that much of a reach to believe he did in fact cover it up.

If he were a more likeable or a nice guy, he might get the benefit of the doubt.

I agree with bringing back Fullmer but for the short term, say 1-2 seasons......KSU did with Snyder.....

The problem with Miles is that he's pretty old at this point; he's 64. Realistically, how many years of coaching are you going to get out of him? And how much drive does does he have to re-build a program?

64 isn't old.

Snyder is 78 I believe.

Not many coaches coach that long. There's only a few examples of guys who coached well into their 70's.

I think "utterly" is right up there with "blithering" for words stupid people use to try and sound smart.

Both pale in comparison to "said." As in, "in the court of public opinion, he has been convicted of said accusations." So transparent.

That's become every bit as annoying to me as "triggered," and "butthurt."

The point is that from an objective perspective, you're condemning Schiano for something ultimately less vile than what you've let Kobe Bryant off the hook for when there's potentially more evidence against Kobe, because Kobe is a Laker, and Schiano is a douchebag.

Just pointing out Miles isn't "old."

Bobby Bowden coached till he was almost 80.
Most of the examples are going to be guys that were at a program and just stayed forever who didn't know when to retire. Paterno, Bowden, Snyder.....and so on. You don't see too many coaches taking up a rebuilding effort in their mid to late 60's.

Like a Vols fan said.....the Vols aren't a team minus talent.....they get SEC talent.....they just need a little coaching. It's not a total rebuild.....kind of like Michigan wen Harbaugh came in.

What was Harbaugh's record his first season there?

What a fucking idiot.

For reelz.

He might as well just tweeted "Yo! Herbie! Fellow Buckeye living here in Knoxville. Tennessee is SOOOOO messed up! I'm only down here to sell my wares to these stupid, inbred, backwoods cretins! Go Bucks!"

Hey, Chris, as stupid as you may think the folks in TN are, they're clearly capable of navigating social media platforms. . .
