For as much as I would like to, I cannot blame this loss on injuries. Give them credit, Philadelphia is just a better team than we are. Sure the injuries hurt us, but this is professional football and when you lose a starter, the next guy up isn't some scrub in cleats, they get paid to perform when called upon too.
Kirk Cousins is no Carson Wentz! Now that might seem like a dig at Kirk but unless you're completely biased you'll agree that for as good as Kirk, is he requires a better than average support cast and things to go well to be successful. This however, is not about Kirk, but more about Wentz, and what he brings to the game relatively speaking. Please don't respond with Kirks stats in this one, Kirk played hard and they (his stats) were impressive, but As @Sharkinva has repeatedly posted time and again, you can't help to wonder if Dan Snyder and Bruce Allen aren't marveling at a player like Wentz and saying...."I/we want one of those"
Defensively, we've got a lot of work to do on this side of the ball. We seem to still lack top of the line speed at linebacker and in the defensive backfield. Missed tackles are still an issue
We need WR's, and I wonder what the decision was that kept Pryor on the sideline for half of the game. If he's not producing then some of that blame has to go to him first, then to the coaches who might have benefitted from watching what he was able to do before and duplicating that. Sure, Pryor is still learning to play through the tougher catches (into traffic) that Gruden wants from him, but in fairness that should have been worked on in camp. I did see some promising things from J. Doctson though.
Chris Thompson is far and away the best running back on this team, he has the quickness and elusiveness that's required but lacks the size. The primary running back that J.Gruden's offense needs is not currently on this team.
We are not out of it, but our road got a lot tougher with this loss. A division title is as of now a remote possibility, the wild card battle is going to take a lot fewer mental errors and more mistake free football to get us there.
