This is BS. I was right. Leonard Williams in God in cleats, along with Aaron Rodgers :wank:.

Leonard Williams gets triple teamed because Muhammad Wilkerson sucks balls. Leonard Williams would have like 30 sacks if the guy blocking him would just get out of the way.

Brandon Scherff is the best guard in the NFL, according to Chris Cooley

LOL. Compare this to a recent take from Cooley where he stated that Scherff is the best OG in the NFL. Before Dean discounts Cooley's take remember he was all over Cooley's opinions on other subjects.

I remember more than once arguing the he is a bad pick he isn't even playing tackle ... I said "what if he becomes as good as Russ Grimm" .... few more years and he just might.

Considering the way the NFL game has evolved, and that Scherff is a Guard than can pull, will beat the living snot out of a D-lineman legally, and is actually improving as a pass blocker as well..... he might already be damn close to the Grimm level.

the key part of my comment was "few more years and he just might." He is playing at that level, now he has to do it for another 6 or 7 years.

No doubt but do people already forget how bad the Redskins O line was not too long ago? Having a great pass rusher is certainly a good thing but so is protecting your QB & helping your offense & protection doesn't strictly come from the OT position.

You can't simply not draft a player high in the draft because of the position he plays. Using that mentality the Redskins would have never drafted Sean Taylor (RIP).

Fair enough & I was saying this in fun - sorry if someone read it any other way. I think just about any Redskins fan at this time won't argue about the Scherff pick. We should all basically simply want what is best for the Redskins & if that means any of us saying "I was wrong" then really who gives a shit?

Hopefully this thread will bring Darrell Green Fan, Dave, back to the forum. He was ol' Leo's biggest supporter if memory serves right. He hasn't been around much, if at all, since the season started.

I hope him and his are OK.

NAh.. that was for sure Dean, followed by DFG. But yea both called the drafting of Scherff over Williams an out right fail.

Yeah, no doubt using the 5th pk on an OG is not something that's happened often. I think only two OGs have been taken that high, well higher actually. Big Jim Parker back in the 50s by Baltimore and John Hannah by the Pats in the 70s. Both were generally considered the best OG to play in their era and well beyond. Till Larry Allen hit the scene. If Schreff gets to the point where he's spoken of in the company of any of them. Regardless what Leonard Williams does or doesn't do won't matter. Schreff will go down as being a great draft pk. Though I imagine for some, the conventional belief that you never draft a guard that high will always come into play.

Talent over position. And yea I was one who believed that Scherff was more talented than Williams. :thumb:

No more excuses: Jets need more from Leonard Williams

No sacks in 15 games. 21 tackles no FF, PDs 4 hits and 6 pressures

With a little hard work he will put up
Ironman numbers

Now come on Skindad you not telling the whole story here. To Williams defense he and Wilkerson have no sacks this yr. Williams has 10 career sacks . Three in 2015 and 7 in 2016. He like Scherff made the pro bowl last yr. Both Scherff and Williams made the 2015 rookie team. Still think we should have drafted Collins in the late rds. Scherff and Collins would have add much more depth to our OL. By the way I like your avatar 4209.

if he reaches nile paul status yes cut him if a guy on your 53 does nothing why keep him

Snap Counts: Redskins-49ers (2017 Regular Season, Week 6)

Niles Paul does nothing? According to this link he participated in 16 offensive plays & 20 special teams plays in the 49ers game. Granted he is not participating to the degree of Cousins or T. Williams but that is hardly doing nothing. You apparently believe that special teams don't mean much. I think that the Skins special teams this season have been pretty good (especially compared to some previous seasons) & I am pretty sure that Paul contributes to that.

His cap hit is only about $2M so I don't think that having him on the team is that bad. I get the feeling that you think that just about every player should be a pro bowler or else they should be given the boot. That is not how you run an NFL team - there are all types of roles that need to be filled & they all contribute to overall success (& some of those are going to be somewhat obscure).
