Well, hard to say they got better when they traded away their closer for a guy who won't even play until Jan. Second, Wade is old & won't play enough IMO to make an impact when they will need it most - late in the season against the best team in the league. Third, we don't know how Rose will look. The same things were being said when they picked up Deron - yet he looked like a shell of his former self out there. IMO Crowder is the only one that has an upside because he makes them better defensively. But IMO they gave up too much in other areas for that small improvement. Of course my opinion is just based off of how they look on paper. We'll know more once they actually play games.

Kyrie is a better closer than IT but those 2 are extremely close other wise. To say Wade won't play enough when he their starting SG is simply hilarious. We don't know how Rose will look but he will be better than Williams. Williams been a washed up bum for years now. Rose on the other hand isn't 30 yet and avg 18 PPG last year on 47% shooting on a really bad team. They got better. No way around it.

That's fair to an extent.

There are definitely question marks around IT, Wade, Rose, and honestly even Crowder based off last season. You could argue, though, that IT, Wade, & Rose were all better last season than the average nba fan realizes.

I'm quite optomistic... but I'm a cavs fan so of course I am. Time will tell.

I just don't get how anyone can make the case that they didn't improve though. IT and Kyrie are pretty close on paper then they added 3 other solid veterans.

Hahahaha at Wade being their starting SG makes them better. Wade hasn't played a full season in how long?? He will be hurt at some point & back to taking every other game off.

And, how can you say we don't know how Rose will look but say he will be better than Williams? That is contradictory sentence. We shall see in a couple of weeks when the season finally starts.

I agree, which is why I said my opinion is solely based on how they look on paper. If we were talking about the Rose from 5 years ago, yes I would agree they improved in terms of using him as a back up PG. But I just think people are under estimating how important Kyrie was to that team on offense - and I think they could struggle if IT can't recover & play like he did last season.

IMO Wade will help them against the other teams in the league - but not against GS. But the point is they didn't need much improvement to beat the other teams in their conference because even without Kyrie they were still the favorites to win that conference. They needed to improve in a way that would help them get past GS.

They just need him healthy from april through June. Impossible to win a title during the regular season. If he plays 60+ games in the regular season then that is fine

I agree that is when they will need him - but do they not play him during the regular season to preserve him? See what I'm saying?

No i don't actually. Wade probably had a regular season injury impact his play in the playoffs once in his career and he is entering year 15.

To say Wade won't play enough when he their starting SG is simply hilarious.

Just because he's their starting SG doesn't necessarily mean he'll play enough to have an impact or at least a positive one.

Dude's 175 years old. His tank may not be empty, but the low fuel light is on. Also, if memory serves, he's had some injuries of late. Playing as a starter may be the worst thing for him, especially if he has to play starters minutes. If he does, he could end up hurt or with nothing left late in the season.

IT won't be able to play until January and 2 of the vets are questionable as far as staying healthy all season. On paper, they got better because of the names they added.

However, if those vets can't stay healthy or don't have much left, those names won't mean a thing.

I disagree. Offense will be easy for him again. The easiest it's been since 2014. He is no longer the focal point on offense. He is the Cavs 4th option at best. Wade MPG has gone down 4 straight seasons now. With JR and Shump as legit backup options, I don't think Lue is going to increase his minutes and have him play 30+ MPG. He knows better than that. He should be around 25-29 MPG.

As for injuries, I can't remember the last time he had a major injury. He just usually have a minor injury or 2 throughout the year which lead to him missing 15 regular season games or so which is fine for this group. Cavs are not expecting him to play 82 games. They will be happy with 60+ games. I expect Wade to avg 14-17 PPG on 45+% shooting.

Well, we'll see. IT being out is problematic and could force Wade to play heavier minutes early. The Cavs aren't going to be too concerned with the regular season, but they can't ignore it either.

Part of the problem for Wade, imo, is how he has to play to be most effective. It's not like he just camp out on the perimeter and shoot 3's. He needs to be driving and slashing to the basket. That takes it's toll and he's not young anymore.

These guys tend to get old overnight. He may have a season or 2 left, but at his age and with his mileage...who knows?

It really doesn't happen over night like it looks. Once the regular season is over they rest their body and they lower their routine which simply isn't able to return to the same level when the new season starts.
