I could see LeBron going to LA- but i dont see it happening next year before they are ready to compete - esp. if the Cavs can add a major piece with the draft pick.

You think LeBron wants to go out to LA and lose BEFORE the Finals- maybe even to the Rockets or Twolves on a Lakers team with Ball and Ingram who are not ready for primetime yet?

I think he will resign in Cleveland for another 1 or 2 and then bolt- and by that time when he is entering his age 36 season- cool by me.

why would you leave a conference a team with say Isiah Thomas, Kevin Love and maybe a Gasol/Cousins, to get your brains beat in in LA for a couple years before that team is even ready?
because lebron never wanted to be a cav anyway. hes not a cleveland guy. hes from akron. those 2 cities are night and day.
lets assume next years laker pick falls out of 2-5, and the lakers keep it. now you have lebron, a year on the tires for ball, simmons, and THAT pick.

magic has something to play for...that pick.

i think thats magics vision.

The fact that you think the heat roster will be identical in 2019-2020 to what it is now is hilarious. Wow

I see you still don't get.

But gimme another false BS just cause you don't seem to understand how the NBA works.

I even posted a quote from Pelton at ESPN that backed up exactly what I was saying.

I understand perfectly fine how the NBA works. I also know that most of the Heat players on the rosters will be free agents before the 2019-2020

i understand thats what you are hoping for.

Simmons?

and the Lakers have NO protections on that pick- if its not 2-5 than the Sixers just get it. There is ZERO way the Lakers keep their pick next draft.

its only protected as it relates to the CEltics receiving it from the Sixers.

lebron never wanted to be a cav? are you out of your mind?

I am PRETTY SURE the title of his letter was "coming home" lol

"I always believed that I'd return to Cleveland and finish my career there,"

Before anyone ever cared where I would play basketball, I was a kid from Northeast Ohio. It’s where I walked. It’s where I ran. It’s where I cried. It’s where I bled. It holds a special place in my heart. People there have seen me grow up. I sometimes feel like I’m their son. Their passion can be overwhelming. But it drives me. I want to give them hope when I can. I want to inspire them when I can. My relationship with Northeast Ohio is bigger than basketball. I didn’t realize that four years ago. I do now.

I looked at other teams, but I wasn’t going to leave Miami for anywhere except Cleveland. The more time passed, the more it felt right. This is what makes me happy.

In Northeast Ohio, nothing is given. Everything is earned. You work for what you have.

Congrats on the trade.

This is a win for both Teams.

Cavs fans, I hope roided up Earl Boykins gets on the court by December.

If he does, the East is gonna be fun!!!!

do the Heat have any trade assets I am not aware of? Are they due to have cap space I am not aware of?

sure there will be changes--- but they have zero route to bringing in a star---- unless like the other poster said-- Winslow all of a sudden shows something that he hasnt shown thus far in an absolutely miraculous way.

Even if the Heat had cap space-- -as i said- players have been going for 1. place to win big, and money

the Heat cant offer either.

They're at 105m with just 8 players under contract.

Plus that counts winslow with the QO instead of a RFA offer sheet.

you could say that about the brooklyn pick.

or the infamous Minny pick in the chris paul deal.

But if you look at Miami, they're capped out for the next few years. James Johnson is going to be an interesting case study in how he ages. Whiteside is going to be 30 then, turning 31 during the NBA finals. It's not a young team right now.

Unless Winslow's career makes a U turn and a nice leap forward, this team is in a tough spot.
Disagree.

Winslow, Johnson, Olynyk, Richardson, Adebayo even Waiters all still have upside.

If two of those guys take a decent step forward, the Heat are in a great position.

They barely missed the playoffs and won't have a disastrous start like last year.

Are they Championship caliber?

No.

But, outside of the Warriors, Cavs and Spurs, no other Team is either.

yeah, thats my bad. i forgot how that protected pick worked. sixers...

as far as "coming home"...he has a massive PR team, and had to cover his "talents to south beach" tracks.

LeBron James' mom, wife didn't want him to return to Cleveland Cavaliers

"For me when I decided to go back and I talked to Mav and Rich and Randy and everybody, I had to let them know some people were on the fence," James said. "Even my wife was like, my momma and my wife was like, 'I'm not with that.' My mom was definitely like, '[expletive] that, we ain't going back.'"

"For me personally, when I decided to go back to Cleveland, I had to decide like, because our owner at the time when I left decided to put out this article that we all know about where he bashed me and disrespected not only me as an individual, but disrespected my name," James said in the video. "My name is not just myself, it's my wife, my kids, my grandfather, my mother, so many more people."

he HAD to go back there after the weay he left. the fans of cleveland call him a home town kid. lebron doesnt. hes from akron, which may as well be the moon relative to cleveland.

for the 2019/2020 season the Heat have an estimated 105 million tied up in Whiteside, Dragic, James Johnson, Dion Waiters, Kelly Olnyk,

105 million for 5 players- none of which is an elite player.

unless you think Tyler Johnson is turning down a 19 million dollar player option.

Whiteside & Dragic are both free agents before 2020. Just an FYI.

You do realize both Whiteside and Dragic will use their player options and opt out following the 2018-2019 season

They're in NBA purgatory.

They're not gonna get premium picks and they're capped out for the next few years. And they're behind the Cavs, Celtics, Raptors and Bucks for sure.

Plus you have teams like Charlotte who can be better, and the sixers probably in 2018/19.

Do weird things happen? Of course.

But the odds are they will live in purgatory.

Agree.

Now, I'm hoping everyone shuts the fuck up about Durant,George and Lebron team jumping.

There is no loyalty to the the name on the back of the jersey.

This kid did everything he could to recruit and lift the Celtics up a d they shitted all over him.

I think it was foul.

But, I also think it was the absolute correct move to make for the Celtics organization moving forward.

Thomas and his repeated quotes about them having to back up the brinks truck sealed his fate.

You don't max a midget unless you have guys to cover up his gleaming shortcomings.

The Cavs have that.

Damn right Whiteside & Dragic will opt out after the '18-'19 season. And I gotta say they'll look pretty damn good in a Cavs uni for the '19-'20 season.

Danny deep pocketz Gilbert rulz!

Dragic turns 32 before the season ends

you think its a foregone conclusion that he turns down a guaranteed 19M going into his age 34 season?

According to hoopshype Whitesides 2019/2020 contract is guaranteed- not a player option.

Tyler Johnson has a 19M dollar player option in 2019/2020 due to the poison pill contract and huge escalator due to the Nets RFA offer.
