Well, think about it. If Harbaugh loses again to OSU this year, as it would appear he's headed for, why would a recruit choose him over Urban?

Is that a serious question? I could make a list if you'd like. :suds:

1. Better academics at UM.
2. Coach who has been a successful HC in the NFL
3. Coach who was a successful player in CFB and the NFL
4. Play a pro style offense to get you prepared for the NFL
5. Get to play in the biggest college stadium in the country

Should I keep going?

#6 was going to be funny. But I'd have to do this afterward. :behindsofa:

Is that a serious question? I could make a list if you'd like. :suds:

1. Better academics at UM. - Marginal at this point.
2. Coach who has been a successful HC in the NFL - So was Lovie Smith. Why aren't kids flocking to Illinois?
3. Coach who was a successful player in CFB and the NFL - So? Urban is better at putting kids in the pros.
4. Play a pro style offense to get you prepared for the NFL - And why would this matter to a DT/OT? Or anyone who isn't a QB? Clearly OSU is much better than michigan at doing this.
5. Get to play in the biggest college stadium in the country - Ah yes, the biggest library in the nation. OSU's stadium is much louder and more energized.

Should I keep going?

#6 was going to be funny. But I'd have to do this afterward. :behindsofa:

1. No offense to OSU. Very good school compared to most outside the B1G. Middle of the pack in the B1G. This past year, they weren't a top 25 Public University, while Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, Maryland and Minnesota all were. And of course, UM -- they were the highest ranked public University in the B1G.

2. Lovie Smith doesn't coach at a blue blood program and the only time he has been in the headlines since these kids today were born was being fired by Chicago and fired by TB. For whatever reason, the media loves anything Harbaugh does. Also, Illinois has some of the worst facilities for football in the conference. I do think it was a good hire for Illinois though.

3. What do you consider better? Harbaugh took a class of kids who had won 11 games in two years and after two years with him, Michigan had more players drafted than any school in the CFB. Also, which coach do you think will be able to tell you what NFL teams wants to see or what to expect? The guy who lived it as a player and coach or the guy who hasn't?

4. Come on now -- did you play football? Gimmick offenses, spread offenses, etc. have completely different blocking schemes and techniques they use. Hell -- Taylor Decker even said he had to learn all new technique and concepts when he came to the Lions. Same with your defensive fronts, defensive schemes, etc. when facing those types of offenses.

5. The other plus UM has going for them, their stadium doesn't look like a toilet. :behindsofa:

- Yup, and just another example of kids not caring at all about a guy having coached in the NFL. It's about getting there, and OSU does it better than anyone not named Alabama.

3. What do you consider better? Harbaugh took a class of kids who had won 11 games in two years and after two years with him, Michigan had more players drafted than any school in the CFB. Also, which coach do you think will be able to tell you what NFL teams wants to see or what to expect? The guy who lived it as a player and coach or the guy who hasn't? michigan fans are the only ones who put any stock into the whole "he's been a player and coach, obviously he knows way more about putting kids into the pros". Meyer puts more kids in the pros than anyone not named Saban. That's an undeniable fact. Let Harbaugh even start getting close to Urban's numbers before you start trying to act as if he's got a leg up, because it hasn't helped so far.

- Andrew Norwell, Jack Mewhort, Corey Linsley, Pat Elflein say hello. You know, the guys who were starters as rookies coming straight out of OSU? Oh, and Bosa really suffered a lot transitioning to the NFL, huh? Give me a break. You are 100% wrong on this one. Unless it's a QB, you have no leg to stand on here.

5. The other plus UM has going for them, their stadium doesn't look like a toilet. :behindsofa:- No, it's just big and quiet, like michigan's exaggerated history.

Time and again, recruits say the exact same thing when interviewed after meeting Harbaugh. He has been in 'the league', he has coached 'in the league', he knows what it takes to get in 'the league'. Other than the academics, it is the first thing out of every recruits mouth.

Unless Meyer retires -- Harbaugh will always have less players put in the NFL. When Meyer was coaching in CFB, Harbaugh was playing in the NFL. I will say this -- out of curiousity -- who put the most players into the NFL last year?

Pat Elflein hasn't even played in a regular season game. He was just drafted. And even though Minnesota's starting Center retired, Nick Easton from Harvard was the starter of the first preseason game. Don't have the will or time to look up the rest right now.

Say what you will about the Big House, but at least it isn't the shape of a toilet. :suds:

(Don't take anything to heart I say, it is just friendly banter)

I've not heard any recruit say that, and if the progression of that Peters kid is any indication, I'm not sure Harbaugh is fully up to the task of putting out pro QBs either. I know it's only his second year, but he seriously can't supplant Wilton Speight? Speight would be our 5th string QB this year.

I'm not talking total numbers, I'm talking on a yearly basis. Also, none of the recruits put in the league from michigan last year were from Harbaugh, those were all Hoke's recruits, and he recruited extremely well. Any coach could've put those kids in the NFL.

Elflein will start soon. You don't draft a center in the 3rd round with no intent to start him.

I know it's friendly banter. It's just nice to be on the winning side, ya jabroni :suds:

You wouldn't hear a recruit say that -- Urban Meyer was a baseball player, not a football player. And coaching in the NFL is but a dream for him. :dhd:

Those same recruits won 11 games total before Harbaugh arrived. So obviously, not every coach was putting them in the NFL. And if you want to know about Harbaugh putting guys in the league -- he gave out 106 scholarships at Stanford and put 58 guys into the NFL. That is at a school who was a bottom feeder when he took over.

With the QB -- every starting QB he has coached has went on to the NFL, including Josh Johnson at San Diego (he became the first person ever drafted from the school). Ruddock is now the 2nd string QB for the Lions. And while I'm not a huge Speight fan -- I'd be willing to wager he will not only get drafted -- he will get drafted higher than JT Barrett.

And Elflein may start at some point. Right now, a guy from Harvard started the first game. Just saying.

Which he definitely could do. His dad is a huge Michigan fan but the coach likes Michigan, MSU and even PSU.

Yeah -- he could sign anywhere he wants. All the big boys are after him. Believe he has already taken trips to Bama and Clemson, as well as OSU, UM and MSU.

Something is really odd about his recruitment though. Makes me wonder if UM isn't sold on him at the college level? Or it could be I am putting way too much thought into it and he is just a 2019 guy and they haven't put much into him as he has been on campus so many times already?

Finally, Illinois is getting their act together and is going to build a brand new football facility. A few years ago, almost all (everyone except Nebraska) B1G West Division schools were lagging in football facilities, but they all (except Illinois) renovated/built or are in the process of finishing new facilities. And from what I hear, all those new facilities in the West Div. are fantastic. Purdue's new facilities will open up next week, and Northwestern's, next Spring, and Minnesota's should be ready in time for the 2018 season. Iowa's and Wisconsin's have already been completed.

Illinois' newly announced Football Performance Center plan should be finished in time for the 2019 season:

Dobbs is heavily trending towards MSU as is Julian Barnett. Apparently both just want to play with friends at MSU.

Yeah, all three of those guys are from Belleville (although QB Dwan Mathis attends Oak Park High). Despite Belleville only being located 15 miles east-southeast of Ann Arbor, it appears that all three of them might choose the Spartans now that Dwan Mathis has committed to Michigan State.

And their friend, CB Davion Williams who is one year older, is already committed to Michigan State's 2018 class.

We shall see what happens....

But.... in the meantime....

Recruiting in the state of Oklahoma might be fun for us in this class.

The top 3 kids are Daxton Hill, Grayson Boomer, and Demaryion Houston. Boomer committed to the Cowboys over the weekend. The squats have a TE commit already and all we have there is Brown and Odom (who he will pass) so he gets reps day 1. Hills big brother is our starting running back and the family are fans. Ohio State is the other player here because they put defensive backs in the league but we haven't been awful at doing that with 3* talent whereas there you have 4* and 5* kids who were going to make it regardless of where they went. Houston is a wide receiver out of Millwood and historically we get kids out of there.

Not only did the Badgers beat the shit out of the Michigan candy asses on the field yesterday but they beat them so bad that Michigan's #2 recruit decided to commit to the Badgers right after the game.

Logan Brown is a 4 star OT and his highest ranking is 3rd best OT in the nation. He also had offers from Bama, PSU and MSU. The kid is already 6'6" 285 lbs. He will be a monster already in his first year.

This is our best recruit so far in 2019.

Logan Brown commits to the Wisconsin Badgers
