Shouldn't this thread as with 9 out of 10 Rock threads be confined to the Pats board?

Well anything Pats related according to Pats fans is National News that everybody would want to know. Anything else though should just be on team boards.

Jerry Jones didn't deserve it either IMO.

That's fair. I wouldn't think so either if I didn't know his entire history of bringing Nike into the NFL and breaking from the tradition of only allowing one soda in the NFL instead of finding a way to get THREE of them to pay to advertise.

Good thing, because Kraft doesn't belong. His coach and quite a few players are first ballot, but not the owner. Jerry didn't get in because of the SB's, he got in because he forced the NFL to change and in doing so made the league and a lot of owners a lot of money. Kraft hasn't done the same.

You might want to read up a bit more on Kraft and what he has done for the league. It's rather substantial, and an argument can be made much greater than Jerruh.

more than jerry? now you are just being silly. Kraft may have a case, but not more than Jerry.

The cable deals, that is the big money, are directly due to Kraft. The new Dallas stadium is based on fan concepts Kraft came up with at Gillette, but on a much grander scale.

Kraft piggy backed off of what Jerry and Pat Bowlen did to set up tv deals. Those two are the ones that made tv deals of today so easy for the NFL. They can ask for the moon and tv stations will give them the sun. I'm sorry but that job is so easy now to be on the tv committee. Back in the 80's and 90's not so much when the NFL was the 3rd most popular sport in America.

It didn't explode in value until Kraft arrived on the scene, and became chair of the committe.

And lets not forget it was Kraft who stepped in to end the dispute between the two sides and get a new deal in place so the games could be played, all while his wife was battling cancer.

Hahaha ok keep believing that when it is about as far from the truth as can be about the tv deals. Bowlen and Jerry got the networks bidding against each other driving up the price to unheard of prices. Other owners were wanting to settle for the first deals they were offered but Jerry and Pat convinced them they could get a lot more.

I'm not saying that Kraft hasn't done some things but in comparison to Pat Bowlen or Jerry Jones he is still in the beginning stages of trying to catch up to them on impact of the game.

Well let's see he and Jerry were the two that negotiated the deal to bring both Fox and NBC into the NFL broadcasting partnership. That deal alone doubled the TV revenue the NFL was experiencing. 5 years later he was the one that led the negotiations that brought the TV deals for the NFL to $18 billion. It was the largest sing-sport contract in history. He also was the one that pushed the NFL to go overseas and expand beyond the U.S. boarders having his team be the one to head to China, England, and Mexico. Now the NFL is seeing a huge surge in fans in those places. He also was the one that brought the NFL Sunday Night Football.

You talk about Kraft stepping in to help secure the CBA this past time. WEll the time before that guess who was the one who was the head of the committee to get the CBA done...Pat Bowlen. Guess what he did it without the threat of having to stop games.

Pat Bowlen was on the committees that brought in the biggest money growth in the NFL in TV Revenue, labor peace, international play, and stadium construction. Pat Bowlen was the go to owner when the other owners and NFLPA couldn't agree on something. He was the voice for a very long time that could speak to both sides and was highly respected by both sides. The past NFL Commissioner has said as much.

Wonder who the chair was, hmmm.

Meanwhile on labor,

"without him, this deal does not get done... He is a man who helped us save football." Scott Sunday

See this is what always cracks me up with you and some other Pats fans...It can't just be a "hey he was deserving just like our guy is deserving". It has to be lets tear down the other guy just to make ours look better. Kraft will eventually get in. I don't question that but to think that Jerry Jones or Pat Bowlen are not deserving is just ridiculous. Those two have helped shape the NFL into what it is today. Like I said Bowlen was the guy negotiating CBA before this last one. I can bring a lot of quotes to the table for you of people saying Bowlen helped make sure that got done with no work stoppage. There was football before Kraft became an owner and those owners deserve to be recognized for their work as well.

I never tore either one of them down. Just pointed out that Kraft, it can be argued, has surpassed them on importance to the NFL, where it is, and where it is going. Heck the committee you cited Bowlen being on, Kraft was, and is the Chairman.

Like I said Kraft will eventually get there. He is building his resume up and in the end could definitely surpass both of them. Would not shock me one bit. As it stands right now I don't think he has done enough to surpass either of those two. I think some of what Kraft has done is in big part becaues of what those two did to make negotiations so much easier today. Again when the NFL of today is the most popular thing on tv and it isn't even close and cable/DTV is fighting for their businesses to stay open so will pay the NFL whatever they want to keep the NFL from going to the internet like everything else it makes negotiations pretty easy. Like I said when they negotiated back in the early 90's that wasn't the case. Networks were willing to drop the NFL if the price was too high. Bowlen and Jerry called the bluff of the tv networks and started bringing in new ones that nobody had thought of for an opportunity at the NFL. Caused the different networks to get into a bidding war and help make the NFL what it is today.

Building? What more can he do? He's been the key owner for a very long time now.

Jerruh's new stadium is even based of of Kraft's idea of what stadiums should be. Jerruh just did it on a much grander scale.

Kraft has been steering this ship for more than a decade now, there isn't much more for him to do to elevate his resume, it's already elevated.

Truth!

And - by the way, I also believe Bowlen belongs in and hopefully gets in while he can still relish it.

Well obviously we have reached an impasse in the conversation. I still think there are things he needs to do. Something unique to just him compared to other owners that have done similar things in the past or set him up for success with his place as an owner.

Kraft - How do you like my video boards, Jerry?

Jerry - Hold my beer.
