They play in a shit division that's still very winnable for them, if they get in the playoffs anything can happen and they still have a stacked lineup. So, I think that's where this is coming from.

true, and they probably do win that division

But thats a WS hangover if i ever saw one, even for Theo who seemed to do nothing at all to tinker with the roster

Shows how important Kimbrel has been and how in todays game, how important a pen is

Kimbrel probably worth 4 or 5 wins already that your average closer probably would have blown

3rd best record in the AL

5th in the AL in runs per game, 5th in runs allowed per game. One of 3 teams to be top 5 in both (Astros/Yankees, the two teams ahead of them in the AL)

Amazing thing about Pomeranz is that he has 4.48 ERA, and has only given up more than 2 runs in 3 of his 12 starts. Shows how few innings he pitches. And when he does give up more than 2, he gives up 5 or 6.

And with those 5 guys + Brian Johnson's 3 starts, the Red Sox are

35-21 when one of those 6 guys pitches. 1-7 with all the others.

Why do the Red Sox get to play the fucking Phillies 5 times this week

For whatever reason, the Phillies are considered to be the Red Sox's "natural rival" in the NL. They play every year. Not sure why all the games are this week.

I believe usually with your rival it is always a home and home 4 game set.
