I think a lot of teams would take Ellsbury on the league minimum. I think you can get him to clear waivers after July 31st and get something for him after eating his contract.Cashman strongly implies Ellsbury is the odd man out when Hicks returns
"Judge and Frazier have obviously earned the right to be everyday players, and Brett is a rock for us"
Im really starting to feel like a Sandoval could happen
All three of them will ultimately need TJ. Enjoy it while you can.

They should also specify which Frazier.
I knew Ellsbury hasn't been great in NY, but I thought his offensive numbers were a bit better than they were (.258/.324/.361, 84 OPS+ over last 2.5 seasons). He's pretty much Juan Pierre with fewer steals. Sucks he hasn't been able to come close to his 2011 success, that was a great season.
Stop Acting upset
Have you thought that through? Robertson is only controllable through next season. And, although still nasty, Chapman is already in career decline. When his fastball tops out at 94 instead of 102, he won't be as effective. And those days are coming sooner rather than later. Betances is controllable through 2019.Betances 100% getting traded this offseason, the hidden secret behind this most recent trade
I think everyone knew he was going to be a free agent and the Yankees were going to sign him. It wasn't the same as Damon saying he'd "never play for the Yankees" (I'm over that), I had no real reason to root against Ellsbury. I had no problem rooting for him so long as the Yankees still lost every game.

Ellsbury being swapped for Robbie will probably go down as Cashmans' worst moment as GM
They were definitely scared to give Cano a 10 year deal because of his propensity to be a bit of a dog
They were wrong
That contract could still go down the shitter, but it has worked out pretty well so far. He is having his worst offensive season since 2008 right now (a 115 OPS+ is still quite good for a 2B)

Proto changed his team name in honor of your Innings Pitched fiasco. It will go down the shitter, any 10 year deal for a 30 year old always will...........But inserting him between Judge and Sanchez for the next 2-3 seasons, could have paid dividends that would have made it worth it
My original thinking at the time (and I said the entire summer of 2013 they werent signing him), was that Cano was the victim of the Yankees having too many ugly looking long term deals on the books, and they wouldnt do another one....Than out of the blue, the senseless Ellsbury deal

How can you hate this man?
