It's funny because Romo gets among the most criticism of just about any player out there. But you can see what he means to that team now!
Finally folks are beginning to see his impact on that team.

The lines are obviously not always correct. If a weather forecast is for clear skies and it rains, the forecast was wrong and should have been for rain.

Oh, of course. But the line just reflects the betting community. It isn't a "forecast". LOL.

The amount of yards after a catch is often misleading. It's really not that great of a stat, IMO. Too much outside influence to simply look at the stat and attribute it to soley the WR or the QB, etc..

Really?

Man I'm getting lapped.

In all honesty I think social media, and the sports media in general in conjunction with hi speed internet...fans are far more connected than ever before...I agree, much like CFB with the polls, the power rankings, etc generate interest, conversations, chat rooms, discussion boards.

Uh.. Yeah. Like on Sports Message Boards like this one! :D

Yeah I think people like reading about all this stuff. For example. I think some fan bases truly get insulted with some of the rankings they get.

Whether they recognize half of it is nonsense is another story.

What about Gronk? Guy is on pace for 1,400 yards and 14 TDs and half his yards are YAC. He's even got Edelmen beat. Let's not mention all his broken tackles and excellent blocking.

Can we just change the MVP name to QB Award? And then continue to have best offensive/defensive player?

We've already seen this "bubble" with ESPN/Disney realizing they vastly overpaid for live sports' rights. They had to drastically cut costs at ESPN(i.e. layoffs, exodus of high-priced talent etc...) to help with this. And the dreaded "cord cutters" aren't helping either. But in terms of the fan experience and stuff like these message boards, Facebook and Twitter? I don't think those are in a bubble that will burst anytime soon. I think most fans love the potential for around the clock coverage....

After circling back and looking at the layoffs at espn in some detail...interesting how they chose to go about it.

They targeted a few on air personalities, but the higher paid production people were targeted the most...most of the people that had been around for 20+ yrs and knew what the hell they were doing.

Big name, big cost savers like Bermann were spared...Gruden should never, ever leave the damn booth...they're paying him $6.5 mil per!!!

Maybe some people watch espn or any channel because of the on air personnel, I have my favorite weather person, but the content is the only thing I really care about.

Yeah but it depends on the year too.

Gronkowski is probably the most impactful offensive player in the NFL, well except for players like Brady and Cam Newton.

While losing Gronk would significantly impact the Patriots ability to do well in the playoffs let alone the win the Superbowl, losing Brady could impact their ability to even make the playoffs.

Just the way it is.

Rock seems to think the Pats won't skip a beat with Jimmy G.

If Matt Cassell never happened, I would agree

And by all reports, Jimmy G is the far better QB than Matt Cassell

He ain't that good. The Patriots might squeak in (which they didn't do with Cassell btw) but just barely.

One reason the Patriots didn't get in in 2009 is that the Cassell led Pats lost to any decent AFC conference team that year. Jimmy G would lose a good number of games in a similar way.

The Patriots could definitely absorb the loss of Gronk easier than Brady.
