Oregon has had a longer and more successful run that any of those teams. 2 national title games and going on 20+ years of relevance. That said it's tough, when you're not a blue blood, to maintain that. Shit it's tough when you are a blue blood

Oh, I'm not pimping out the Big 12 by any means. I know this conference was weak last year. You are in denial, guy.....
im not in denial, the Pac always get called weak. but every conference has their ups and downs every year.
people said Big 10 was strong but Ohio State, Penn State(the champ) Michigan all lost their bowls.

20+ Years?

Oregon had a Brief 4 year run, everything outside those 4 years is average. The Best 2 Bowl wins outside those 4 years? Fiesta in 2001, and the Holiday Bowl x2. That aint relevant.

In Fact take away that 4 year run and here is every Bowl win Oregon has had in the last 50 years
Independence
Las Vegas
Sun
Holiday
Fiesta

4 Year run is all Oregon had...

In the last 21 years Oregon has 4 Rose Bowls, 2 Fiesta bowls a Cotton Bowl and 2 national title games. They had a pedestrian 03-09 but when you've played in 9 elite bowl games in 21 years that is relevant.

05 and 08 were 10 win seasons
and 07 was a * for Oregon fans. Dennis Dixon leading the team on the way to a potential Heisman and NC game and gets hurt and finish the season with the 5th string QB

Take Away that 4 year run and Oregon has
6-8 Bowl Record with wins in the Las Vegas, Sunx2, Fiesta, Holidayx2 Bowls.
Let not even remember the Choke Jobs they pulled to Stanford and in Bowl Games...

Take away 03-09 and there aren't more than 3-5 trams who have been better than Oregon in the last 20+. Point being you can't take away what happened. Even in their "bad" stretch the were good. Same can't be said for the other teams on the OP

USC has won the Pac 38 times...
see when talking about "being back" that means winning the conference again. what you have done in the past is what you are trying to get back to. so in saying we are waiting to see USC win the Pac in order to buy in to them being back, what they have done in the past, the 38 conference titles, is the bar they are trying to reach again.

Oregon was climbing before either UW or USC declined. the consistent winning Oregon had in consecutive years may have a little to do with their decline but not greatly.
Oregon and Stanford picked up the power vacuum left when USC tanked and went in the drink. Other teams that sometimes also added to the power in some other USC down cycles (Like UW) were basically non existent during that time. That left the ducks with a unique position to appear stronger than they actually were because they were not facing the full vetting typical of all Pac10 teams before they went to divisions. Once they went to divisions the ducks simply had to skate across an otherwise weak north and play their one real game against Stanford and whatever they had in the south. There really were no seriously dangerous teams in the south at that time.

Now Stanford is not entirely dead, but down a little and both UW and USC have reloaded and are FAR more dangerous than they have been in the last decade (or more in UW's case).

The road for Oregon, or UCLA, or one of the zona schools to reach the top of the conference just got that much harder. By a factor of two at least.

Oregon has won 2 Rose Bowls in the last 100 seasons. USC has five Rose Bowl wins since 2000. Oregon has won 2 Rose Bowls and 2 Fiesta in 17 years. And that was their peak of relevance. Holiday Bowls , Alamo Bowls and Sun Bowls are not Elite bowls.

I didn't say they were historically great. I said they've been relevant for 20 years. To get to Rose/Fiesta/Cotton/National title games you have to win lots of games and be highly ranked. That makes you relevant. I wouldn't expect fans of USC/Oklahoma/Bama/OSU to understand what I'm saying because your definition of relevant is different from everyone else's but just so you know MOST CFB fans consider 10+ wins, a top 10 ranking and a great bowl to be a successful season lol

Is that why USC doesn't really show up for those bowls? 5-5 in their last 10 non elite bowls

You're claiming that the Ducks have been "relevant" for 20 years. Thats since 1997.
Here's their records from 1997 till 2007 which is half of those years.
1997 , 7-5
1998, 8-4
1999, 9-3
2000, 10-2
2001, 11-1

2002, 7-6
2003, 8-5
2004, 5-6
2005, 10-2
2006, 7-6
2007, 9-4

so only 3 years did they win 10 or more and two were together and the next one was five years later. How in the world is this being "relevant"

here's USC s record since Pete left. You know , sanctions, USC being down , Trojans suck, not able to recruit 10 players a year for four years.
2010, 8-5
2011, 10-2
2012, 7-6
2013, 10-4 (with three different coaches)
2014, 9-4
2015, 8-6
2016, 10-3

So USC in seven years of being down and in the middle of sanctions and everyone saying they sucked had just as many 10 win seasons , never won less than 7. But you say oregon was "relevant" with a worse ten years.
