Rumor on Lakersnation has the Mavericks offering Randle a Maximum Contract - If they do that, I expect the Lakers will let him sign with them

Probably where they are headed. But I expect Cuban to look to sign some FA's to try to get Dirk one last playoff run.

I could see them going after Randle and some others in FA, but unless they make some huge moves I don't expect Dallas to make a playoff jump. Dirk has had an awesome HOF career, let him ride off into the sunset.

So the jilted dude is taking back the bride that left him at the alter for a trial run. Too bad what she can bring seems so sexy

I know that. You know that. Most of the rest of the world knows that.

But does Cuban?

The guy who admitted multiple times to tanking? Yeah, he knows the rebuild time is here.

Cuban is treading water until the Warriors break up or get old. No use signing big, long contracts now. He should be trading everyone every year for picks 3 years down the road.

I'm still trying to figure out how that overgrown frat boy still has his money, lol.

Same way he got it in the first place: Being smart and working hard.

Gotta spend the money and got him on a 1 year deal. No issue with this. I don't like Jordan for what he did a few years ago but I have no issue with trying to put a competitive product on the floor that will still let us have financial flexibility in the future.

The question remains; what are they trying to win? This moves them maybe to the late lottery. It certainly doesn't move the needle much on a rebuild, and Dallas will still struggle to outdraw other teams in free agency. Bottoming out for higher draft picks is the more proven rebuild strategy.

Losing is a hard thing to overcome, you don't want to get your young guys used to it.

That is all this is. Tread water while the super teams beat each other up. Fill the arena as much as you can while keeping yourself free from cap hell. Put a team out that wins 45 games, that is all Cubes is trying to do. Should put them around a 12th pick in the draft.

Man, I don't even know about that. Think they are better next year than DEN were this year? I see them being the 2018-19 Nuggets...a team that gets mid 40's in the wins and ends up the 9th seed. Would be the 4th in the East.

No.

The WC is so stacked the Lakers just added the best player on the planet but they are looking at a 7-8 seed.

The Mavs improved themselves but are in the 8-9 range IMO.
