In defense of Morris he's trying to build a fast paced spread offense out of a roster built like a plodding Big 10 team. It's going to take time for him to get the pieces to make it work, and anybody that thought he was going to come in and win right away was just fooling themselves.

Well nobody has ever accused folks in Arkansas of being smart. They did hire Bobby Petrino and acted shocked when he turned out to be a dirt bag.

Morris wasn't perfect as Clemson's OC, but when he has the personnel to run his offense it's a thing of beauty to watch. The biggest problem he's going to have is with the OL because it's 180 degrees from they type OL that the Fat Man required. It honestly took two years before Clemson's OL was anywhere close to ready and we weren't anywhere near as much of a rebuild for his system as Arkansas is.

Well, he had the style of offense (actually getting into the 21st century) and Texas recruiting connections we were looking for. He was just three years removed from being the highest paid OC in the country. Improved SMU from garbage to mediocre.

Plus doesn't hurt his son was high school teammates with Jerry Jones' grandson at Highland Park. Jerry was pretty adamant about wanting him. He's pretty much a poor man's Gus Malzahn who we tried to pay out the ass for. Not sure how good a coach Morris is but we do have our first top 20 recruiting class in 10 years lined up for 2019...but that's still 5th at best in the SEC West so yeah...

I get that he's an offensive whiz, but you gotta be able to play defense to get anywhere in the SEC.

Our defense isn’t going to be better than Alabama, LSU or Auburn no matter who we hire though. Bielema was a defensive guy. I can only name two defenses that I would consider really good that we’ve had in the last 15 years.

In the last five years, we’ve lost 15 games after leading going into the 4th quarter. That’s three per year lol. In two of those, we were ahead 24-7 and 24-0. There has to be some major conditioning or mental issues with the roster. Against CSU, the defense didn’t allow a touchdown the entire first half and then gives up 25 unanswered in the fourth quarter. It’s pretty disheartening being an Arkansas fan sometimes haha.

I get placing blame on the defense but in a lot of those games if the offense just scores once in the second half then we win. Made me wonder what Bielema gave them at halftime.
