Typical Lakers transition defense.

WE need to shore-up our transition defense. There are signs of a team that can come together and really be a force. It will take the cliche of time but I like what I saw from all the new additions and Kobe's new role in the 3-spot.

all i'll say is that these guys looked like the team from last season. be competitive for 3 quarters, then simply run outta gas. i understand we threw in a lot of scrubs towards the end, but it just looked too familiar...

On the tension between him and Byron last year:

It was the first time a coach has called me out in the media or, in a larger scale in the media. Because everybody pays attention to the Lakers and LA is LA.

Byron on Swaggy's effort on both ends of the court:

I think he's made strides in those departments on both ends of the floor. I'm going to harp on him all season long to continue to get better at it.

He says that Byron isn't asking him to do anything that other coaches haven't, but that Byron has gotten through to him.

He finds ways to motivate players. And right now, I'm motivated to prove him wrong and prove the world that doubted Swaggy wrong.

He's also driven by the fact that he's been in the league 8 years and only been to the playoffs twice:

Even though I've been playing good offensively, I just ain't won nothing man. Whatever it takes to get to the playoffs and win...I'm tired of being at Dave and Busters or Wingstop watching all the playoffs, you know?

This is the kind of attitude he needs to keep all season long. I think most us will take a "believe it when we see it" approach, but at least he's saying the right things.

The game is in Hawaii so that's why its later for us on the continent.


Russell hit the deck pretty hard trying to block a shot. Looked like he was favoring his back. He's gone to the locker room for evaluation. Hopefully just some bruising and nothing broken.

Swaggy P for 3!!

Just got in from the SoCal Fair and that was the first thing I saw when I turned the game on.

Yeah, I liked that too. I know it's only 2 pre-season games, but I like what I've seen from him. It's obvious that he's dropped weight and is in the best shape he's been in for a few years.

Upshaw is playing tonight. Just made a nice dunk. We are playing Sweet Lou's old team. I am sure there is some motivation there.

liked Randle's aggressiveness but he needs to know when to tone it down. picked up 3 quick fouls early on...
