USC QB Sam Darnold Says NFL Teams Shouldn't Tank for Him

USC quarterback Sam Darnold is one year away from potentially being the No. 1 pick in the 2018 NFL draft, but he's not a big fan of teams wanting to tank for the right to select him.

Per ESPN's Dianna Russini, Darnold said during an appearance on SportsCenter he doesn't "think any team should tank their season because of me."

Darnold also disputed a report from NFL Network's Daniel Jeremiah that he might play out his last two years at USC before going to the NFL.

"I'm taking it one year at a time," Darnold said, via Russini. "I don't know where he got his information" about staying in school for the next two seasons.

Makes too much sense for him to play this season then go. I wouldn't blame him a bit. I'm hearing rumors Corral still is thinking about USC. It's obvious somethings going on or went on. It's usually the kids ego when they start hoping around like that.

Sounds like he just wants to play football and not be bothered about the NFL just yet. There's really no way to stop it, but I wish the media wouldn't put so much pressure on these guys about their NFL intentions.

I mean I would if it meant an NFL paycheck. League min is like 4x what I make working in med field saving lives and all. a practice squad player makes roughly the same amount I do for only working the half the year.

Yeah we all would but if you're good enough to play in the NFL there are teams most wouldnt want to play for.
