I've been hearing about this for a while now...pros/cons.

Good player from an index standpoint, but he's going to get smoked, but I like the idea from the charity perspective...he's a bigger draw than anyone in the field so there is incremental interest in the event. No big deal. If whomever's spot he's taking is good enough he'll have plenty of other chances. It will help the gate. At almost scratch at his home course he'll be lucky to break 80 there, but so what. I don't really see a downside.

I think there was an event that had some pro ballers from other sports in itto see how they would fare on a USO course set up for a major... Big Ben played in it (he's a low single digit)...I think he shot like 82.

I think Steph will shoot 82-86 depending on the set up.

Stupid. Maybe this will put to rest the whole "he could play on the pga tour" bs that you hear about guys who are obviously outstanding players but haven't played competitively in a while and were maybe offered a scholarship to a school. The guy who owns the course record where I usually play is ungodly to watch and he couldn't even hack it on the web.com tour or come close to sniffing the us open. There's another hot-shot young guy that was rock-solid in D1 and him and his buddies basically cruise around the country in an RV trying to qualify for events. Kind of shit you can do in your early 20's and not attached yet and I'm sure it's a lot of fun. It's just such a unique skill set that you need to play at that level.

If they're going to do that then they should open up roster spots on NBADL teams for golfers who supposedly have a good jump shot. Spot they give him is one that could go to a player who's trying to make it and dedicates his life to it. Not a fan.

I hear ya, but I think you're missing the point...Curry in the field is about drawing fans to the event and the money goes to charity.

DL games are rarely on TV so the impact is not the same, but if DJ lacing them up for a DL game is going to draw an extra 100,000 fans watching on TV...as a promoter of the game, you've done good work imo.

The guy driving around trying to Monday qualify for a living most likely still got in the field if he qualified...my guess is they added a spot for Curry.

The norm is usually 8-10.

They also said that ticket sales have multiplied X10 from last year. Just for the exposure, this "stunt" is worth it.

We're used to watching PGAT events on Sun and there are 30,000 spectators thru out the golf course.

At a regular Web.com event, they might have 1500 people show up on a Sat...TV and PGAT money support that tour....if Curry playing jumps the number to 5000 at the gate... and charity benefits, why not?
