It really sounds like they want to see what Sutton looks like as a punt returner...as is stands now isn't Gay mostly in dime now coming in after Hilton?

Allen was getting run on ST...Sensabaugh is getting zero snaps on DEF and a handful of ST...I think he goes but Tomlin typically doesn't waive vet FAs during the year.

Yea Gay is strictly dime packages or if Hilton needs a breather in Nickel. I think Gay having knowledge of the Safety position works in his favor as well so there's very little chance that Tomlin would consider waiving him.

Tough call with Sensabaugh & Allen. By contract it would be cheaper to release Allen since Sensabaugh's contract is almost fully guaranteed this season with a bigger dead hit next year. But a lot has to be said for potential. I think Allen really started to come into his own later in the preseason. Sensabaugh had some flashes, but he turns 29 on November 15th. His ceiling is already here, and if he cannot crack the starting lineup then I'd go with the younger potential every time. Besides, I think Sens was mainly an insurance signing in the first place.

But hell... If Tomlin feels satisfied with the current group (which I think most of us do) then why not let the 21-day period lapse & shelf Sutton for next season?

Hawkins will be the swing OT next season...just too many teams needing OTs that can play...in DIV alone, right now Hubbard would be the best OT on CLE, or CIN 53 man roster.
