Tip my hat to Kearse and appreciate his efforts, but his inconsistency shot us in the foot more than once... Our defense just got better...

I totally agree, and actually feel like our offense just got better as well.

The one name I have yet to hear in terms of who will step in in Kearse's absence is Jimmy Graham. IMO, if you take away all of those end zone targets to Kearse last year and replace them with Jimmy that makes this offense much more potent. Hopefully thats the plan cause that's how it should be having Jimmy on the squad.

seeing as our WR corps is pretty deep right now, this allows one of our younger guys to make the team as well. The added value we get in Richardson is immense and the loss of Kearse is greatly mitigated by his replacement.

I will say that most here in Pats country think Coleman sucks, so hopefully he doesn't need to actually play.

Well yeah, he spent most of his NFL career on practice squads for several teams including the Hawks

This trade is a home run, a tape measure shot at that. We either had to cut Kearse or keep him instead of a guy who we wouldn't be able to hide on the practice squad, so in one fell swoop we solved that problem and added a talent that probably gives this team the best DL in football now.

I appreciate the great catches in big moments by Kearse, but it was time.

Now let's get these guys geared up to go after Rodgers.

We all wanted Kearse to be replaced last year and i think most of us knew he wasn't going to get cut. Glad the hawks moved him and got a great player in return.

This move Helps Darboh make the team.

Oh another relevant point... if Seattle for whatever reason does not sign Richardson to a LT contract, I'm sure someone will pay well for him and that means we'll get a 3rd round compensatory pick. So at worst we basically swapped a 2nd for a 3rd and 1 year of pro bowl DT play, all while shedding a player that was not worthwhile for the money we had him signed on for.

One thing about this organization in the PC/JS era is that it seems not to do what you think they will do. We see clues and think we know what is about to happen, then the headline is totally different.

So this extra cap space makes it look like a trade is coming. Sheldon Richardson has been rumored, so let's scratch that off the list if history tells us that's not what they're up to. Is there anyone else potentially in the window for an extension? I know we have tons of guys on 1 year deals right now (including contracts in final year). Maybe they are opening up some space so they can work extensions and fit the prorated SB into this year's cap?

As soon as you figure out this organization will never do the expected, they go ahead and do the unexpected by doing the expected

Yep, it was reverse mojo! I am pumped about this trade. Starting to feel a lot like 2013 in here.

This trade kind of tells me that they really do not expect McDowel to be on the field at all this year

Boy, I'm excited about this Richardson trade. I had high expectations for Jarran Reed, but he wasn't great last year and Rubin just straight up sucks.

The interior was really the only spot that the Seahawks had a hole in on defense. Richardson is a great, versatile player, and we know how much Pete loves that.

Hawks are loaded on D.
How about getting Wilson similar caliber talent on the O line?

I see a slight improvement so far.

As for re-signing him, the team just makes a decision as to which of Bennett/Avril is more on the decline.

so one has to wonder, would cleveland really not give up joe thomas for a 2nd rounder and kearse?

No. Different stages of the rebuild. Jets are still on the way down. Browns are in theory back on the way up.

I wonder if McDowel will never play again... He could have some severe injuries that we're not aware of... Seahawks may not want to take the risk in the future to clear him to play... I wonder if he has some brain damage...
