The Reds still have a few problems in they're bullpen. I don't want to see Sampson or Ohlendorf come in with a close score, for that matter I don't want them to come in in a blow out. They will just let the other team get back into the game. Like the 5 to 0 lead they lost the other night. Those kind of loses destroy team and fan morale. and pisses everyone off

The problem with the bullpen is that these guys aren't good enough to be sharp after sitting for 3 days. Lucky for them, Reds starters are lucky to go 5 innings. Why Sampson is still on the roster confuses me, but Ohlendorf doesn't make my overjoyed either. I see Cingrani has been avoided for awhile.

I think it's time for the Cody Reed experiment to come to an end. At least for a while. At least with Lamb or Simon it wasn't a for sure blowout lose. Lamb actually pitch some good games before they sent him down. We also have Stephenson who made a couple of very good starts and we haven't seen him sense. Oh that's right its better that he rots in the minors so they don't have to start his time clock... Bullshit

Reed has nothing left to prove in the minors, Price is fond of saying.
He has nothing left to prove in the majors either. He can't get anybody out.

Cody Reed finally optioned out. So who replaces him in the rotation?

I'd rather not see Sampson who pitched long relief after Cody Reed exited early Sunday.

I'd much rather see Robert Stephenson toeing the rubber Friday night. I think he last pitched Saturday, so he's at least a possibility.

Price must of changed his mind about noting Reed can learn at the minor league level, because he named at least 4 things that Reed needed to work on to be successful in the majors.. Has anyone noticed how similar baseball management and politicians are ?

They may bring back Lamb when his turn comes up.

I assume Waldrop would be sent back though with this injury to Hamilton and the 1-for-31's that Schebler is putting up, not sure anybody has a clue.

I am learning to appreciate Chris Welsh a little more since he's become a little more cynical of this operation. I get a sense he isn't high on Price's philosophy. Welsh said the same things about Reed, that the minors was where a guy should develop, not the majors.

I do see that Lamb is on the DL, which is a minimum of 7 days in the minors.
Perhaps Aldeman might fill the void until the callups.

I am searching for the reason Lamb is on the DL and can't find it.
I did see that Rookie Davis is fast-tracking.

Tim Adleman has been pitching well, but he is scheduled to start tonight. We'll know if he's pitching Friday if they scratch him.

Friday would be Big Pasta's turn in the rotation, but he only threw 57 pitches in 3 innings last time out. Doesn't mean they wouldn't run him out there though, but they've worked him back slow in his rehab. 1-2-3 innings in his three rehab outings.

This homestand has me a little worried. After being on the road for most of a month, They play 3 pretty good teams, all hoping to make the playoffs. And we don't know about Phillips and Hamilton. If they well play much.
I was hoping to win 20 or more games the rest of the way,

Lots of rain this morning.

They won the game last night with a ST lineup. I didn't understand why Renda played LF leaving Waldrop on the bench? Not that Waldrop is a stud, but at least he's a outfielder.

The starting three OF have horrendous numbers. Schebler .193 after three hits last night, Renda .167 after going 1-4, Holt was 0-4 leading the gang at .207.

I found it odd that with Phillips, Duvall, and Hamilton injured the Reds called up Friday's SP on Tuesday instead of reinforcements for the lack of available position players. They could have made a subsequent move Friday to get Adleman up to pitch.

Of course, why call up another position player if you're not going to play him?

Reds seem very reluctant to put BP on The DL.
Peraza seems destined to get screwed here unless having Renda around somehow justifies the Chapman trade. Renda is another version of Kris Negron.
Schebler may learn to hit. Apparently they think he can. He's not getting it done yet.
I would love to be in the inner circle, listening while the Reds rationalize their roster moves.
Holt continues to disappoint me despite what appears to be a real eagerness to play hard.

Reds win 17 games out of their last 30, which is, if sustained, good enough over a season to win about 90-some.
Odd how that works.
I see Adleman gets a go of it for Friday.

BP has been banged up his fair share this season. It's hard to determine how injured a guy is if he continues to produce.

For all that has been said about Phillips declining skill set and age, he's still having a good year in the field and at the dish. The plays he made on Dee Gordon and Prado, I thought for sure they were hits when they left the bat.

Fernandez goes against Straily tonight. Straily sure seems to get some of the best in the game to go against. Straily has done a good job this year. I'm not sure what his contract is, but what are the chances he will be with the Reds for a few years?

Straily has 4 more years of team control remaining.

He may qualify for arbitration if he falls into the top 22% of two plus year service time players and be what they call a "Super Two". He'll either be league minimum next year with three years of arbitration if he doesn't or arbitration eligible for the next four if he does qualify.

Either way, he's been a great waiver wire pick up.
