Beltran commits the cardinal sin (so to speak) thrown out at 3rd base to end the inning.

And before I go...

It did come on a 2 out RBI game tying hit by Allen Craig.

Allen Craig: The anti-Votto.

Replace Votto with that guy straight up? This offense scores more runs.

Sooner or later, everybody has to face the crappiest pitcher on the team.

A win is not spelled with an L.

I can't believe with this offense Kate finds criticism with Votto. The guy is the only .300/20HR player on the roster. We'd score more runs with Carpenter playing 3b and hitting 2nd, too.

Votto has been on fire, I don't see how anybody could say anything bad about how he has played. He has elite numbers. It's starting to get ridiculous with all the hate on this guy, If it wasn't for Votto I can guarantee you this, we would not be the team we are. This Reds team is in perfect shape to go after back to back division titles, Lets sweep the Cubs today!!!!!! GO REDS!

Looks like some Parrots fans are ready to jump off a cliff following Marte's dropped fly ball in the ninth. They might have the only fanbase in baseball more inclined to be negative than our own.

Twenty years of getting the shit kicked out if you doesn't exactly inspire confidence. Right now, I have to root for Cards to beat Pirates. It trims the division lead and at least we do beat the Pirates occasionally.

Almost half way through the game today, it appears that neither team brought their lumber to the yard today. Wind must be blowing in at Wrigley today.

If Votto could ever get a clutch hit this team would be a lot better too. I wouldn't trade Votto but this is the Votto from a couple years ago anymore.

He's hitting .309 RISP. If he would have hit .500 he wouldn't have 100 RBI...count his LOB.

The problem is there are 5 guys in every lineup (6 today) that just don't hit very often. Dusty acts like that shalt not steal didn't just apply to Leake and Moses. The 2 hole has an STD that everyone contracts that Dusty puts there. 75% of the time there is a runner at 2b, there are 2 outs.

If every Red hit like Joey Votto, they'd be 12 games up right now.

A little putaway offense, for once......

I almost feel a little sorry for the Cubs starter today. He puts up a nice, quallty start, and his team gives him........ 2 lousy singles.

Ludwick's whiffing has resulted in a gale warning for Southern Lake Michigan. Baseball fans are advised to seek excuses elsewhere.

Luddy looks like he's going to need some at bats to get going, for sure.

Votto hit the ball hard 4 times today and the one he hit to LCF was easily out of there on a lot of days.
The guy is pulling the ball hard lately and that's a departure.

Cubs fans are pretty disgruntled right now. A fly ball to left field gets them excited. I was telling one guy that I don't ever remember the Cubs having such terrible hitters. Arroyo looked like Chapman Lite on a couple of 78 mph heaters.

This is 100% right, I could not agree more. I don't see how you other reds fans don't get it. Do you not watch the games? The man is doing all he can, he is gonna put up elite numbers once again and gets the job done. He is once again going to be a MVP candidate, on the count that he leads the universe in OBP.

The MVP thing is a bit stretched for the moment but he'll be in the conversation.
Votto's problem is that the rest of the lineup is often so lame that we mistake a 3-for-12 series as being in a slump. Most players get 3-or-4 hits in a series and are happy with that.

But I do think JV was in a funk a couple of weeks ago. I won't endeavor to evaluate whether that's a sign, a trend or just something else.
