My favorite part about Turner is that he's the answer to the question of how the Nationals won the Wil Myers trade without trading for or trading away Wil Myers.

Btw, good for him. I'm all for anyone getting everything they can. It just boggles the mind a bit, especially since I just read a blurb about how he had to settle for "cheap".

Because if he had pitched these last few years he'd be getting many multiples of that number. Kid was a stud before TJ hit.

Some people are saying that Smyly changing parks doesn't make much of a difference. To me, just getting out of the AL East and most likely getting some run support is a pretty nice difference. It'd be nice if he'd cut down on the HRs a bit.

A lot of what he did isn't gonna sustain, plus AZ is a hitters park.

But I also don't think he'll go back to being MIL bad. He did make some legitimate gains in batted ball and hard hit % IIRC.

I don't like banking on wins.

And even if he wins more games, it doesn't look like his other numbers will change all that much.

So....a few extra wins isn't gonna make him that much better.

i liked Smyly alot coming up.

His metrics are still fairly promising. but the loss of any respectable GB rate has clearly become an issue for him.

Also I'm probably drafting Wheeler at the back end of any draft I do. Just way too much upside there not to gamble.

I'll be looking hard at him. If he rebounds from the surgery and learns to cut down on walks, he may end up being a stud.

He already performing like a #2 SP before he went down.

But yeah the walks are the biggest thing he needs to work on to take the NEXT step.

But after 2 years off, I'm not really confident that this will be the year he does that. But there's still enough upside with his current warts to justify such a gamble.
