More trade stuff. Pomeranz is a hot topic, it seems...

According to Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald, the Marlins are pursuing starters like Rich Hill of the A's, Jake Odorizzi of the Rays, and Drew Pomeranz of the Padres.

That's pretty much the top of the heap of this year's trade market for starting pitchers, and the Marlins don't have the assets (money or prospects) of some of the other contending clubs. But it's all worth exploring this time of year. Hill, 36, has registered a 2.25 ERA, 1.09 WHIP, and 90/28 K/BB ratio in 76 innings (13 starts) this season for Oakland. He's a fit for any club needing rotation stability.

Teams like the Marlins shoudln't be going after Rentals IMO. They need to look for guys who have at least another year of control.

Not that people don't start their Rockies, but........

They have an amazing second half schedule.

In Atlanta to start off.
At the Mets (but their arms are all questions now, less DeGrom)
At the Nats (tough)
At the Padres (pitching stinks and park isn't as pitchong friendly anymore)
At the Dodgers (last week of September...championship week?)
At the Giants (last weekend in September and October finish, some leagues are done)

Every other game is at home or in a hitter's park.

Nolan Arenado will be MVP.

SD is still very much a pitchers park.

Not sure about this. Hanley is Hanley and while I like Clippard, I'm not big on trading for closers...and Arizona's a tough park. Belt's a solid 1B with OF eligibility. I'd imagine it depends on how they fit on your team. :noidea:
Belt doesn't have OF eligibility, and Hanley has 1st and OF, that was kind of the deal maker for me. I also have Freeman/Kendrys that I had to flip flop to get in while they've both been hot the last month or so. I know Belt is Mr. Consistancy and Hanley is so damn streaky, buy it seemed like it was worth the gamble.

I want Matt Wisler to succeed just so someone can take a photo of his mom in the stands and caption it "Wisler's Mother".

I got a trade offer the other day, what do you all think?

I get Sale, Tanaka, and Fowler
I give Fernandez, Hammel, and Springer/Blackmon

It's a head to head categories with hrs, Rs, RBIs, SBs, Avg; Ks, Whip, ERA, Ws, and SVs.

I'm thinking about this trade because I'm firmly in first place and am worried about Fernandez's potential innings cap. I have tons of power and pitching on my team as well. Hammel is probably my worst starter.

I don't think that's something I would do. Rather Springer than Fowler. And the pitching upgrades are minimal, imo.

It's a redraft, right? I like the pitching side. I think Fernandez is gonna be limited as well. Dealing Springer or Blackmon is huge, but if you've got enough offense to cover...

Just finished a blockbuster in my league........

Sent: Kris Bryant, David Phelps and Freddie Freeman

Recieved: Max Scherzer, Jeurys Familia and Matt Carpenter.

Picked up an ace, a closer and unloaded some K's. I really hope this works out....:hope:

Thank you Mr. Bochy, for pinch hitting for Peavy after four innings!

It's a shame really. I'm no manager, but it's not rocket science to me. Billy is no switch hitter. He was "forced" to switch hit four years ago. If you can switch hit, fine, be a switch hitter, but I just don't comprehend any reason towards doing it just because.

Leave him on the right hand side and leave him at the top of the order. Period. He WILL steal 60 bases at minimum. It doesn't matter to me if he's a .270 obp guy. And maybe, if they do just leave him alone, he can be a .300 obp guy. And which ever one it is won't change their playoff batting order... because they won't be sniffing the playoffs anyway.

Just watch for improvement and teach... but most importantly, keep him out of the left batter's box! Then maybe in 2018 you have a .330 obp guy with 100 SB. Or maybe you have someone who can't tie Drew Stubbs' cleats... at least you'll know. Trotting a guy put there who can't swing a lefty bat against the likes of Wainwright and Arrieta helps nobody.

Well, still switch hitting, but at least they got half my suggestion right! Keep him atop the lineup!

His turnaround has become very impressive.

From the Files of Mr. Unlucky:

Needed wins over the weekend in two leagues to keep my playoff hopes alive...

First league: Started Bud Norris against the Reds; Dodgers are hot and the Reds are, well, the Reds.

Second league: Fed up and sick to death of Justin Upton, I drop him and start previously-benched-but-suddenly-red-hot Marcel Ozuna.

Norris: 6 runs in 3 2/3 innings
Ozuna: 13 ABs, 2 singles
Upton: 2 HRs, 6 RBIs

Time for football.

And that's why they call me Mr. Unlucky!

Not the only league I have Strasburg in my lineup. The other league is last week of regular season and I need two wins and the guy in front of me needs two losses for me to get in the playoffs.

Brutal

Shocker. Poor Jose Fernandez killed in boating accident. What a sin. Happiest ball player in the world. 24 years old.
