I know neither of you change the station when Journey comes on.
Don't even try to lie about it.

This should be good:
The Beatles
The Rolling Stones
Led Zeppelin
U2
Steve Miller Band
Jimmy Buffet
The Grateful Dead
REM
Aerosmith
Pink Floyd
The Doors
Depeche Mode
The Cure
Probably more to come.
You are a metal head right?
Is there a chance that you've never "really listened" to a lot of these bands? Radio songs do not count.
I am a metal fan myself, and I have numerous friends that spent 20 years telling me how much the Stones suck, and how much the Beatles suck...the vast majority of them changed their tune(no pun intended) as they aged and their perceptions expanded, and they actually gave the music a chance.
I quite literally have a hard time relating to folks who say they don't like the Stones er Beatles en sech...it just comes off as weird af to me. The mere influence and historical aspect of them alone garners respect IMO.
I admittedly have a bias, as I was raised on the shit, but still, the Stones, up til the late 70's early 80's were fucking great. The catalog, enormous. Same for the Beatles.
I am genuinely intrigued by what exactly you don't like about them.
Yes, I’m mostly a metal head.
I used the feel the same as the OP about AC/DC, but they grew on me over the years and now Bon Scott era shit is pretty high up on my list.
The others though, the ones that you can’t fathom someone not liking, most were before my time but I have certainly heard plenty and they just don’t do it for me. Some of them I can explain (Zepplin ripped off WAY too many artists for me to have any respect for them, The Doors with those fucking keyboards make me want to jab knives in my ears), but some of them I don’t know if I really have a valid reason.
And it’s not that I’m as closed minded as chewbaccer because I actually like a lot of shit that isn’t heavy.
I doubt many did it to the extent that Zeppelin did it.
IMO they made every one of them better.
But fer realz man, There are "only 12 notes that a man can play". Most, if not everything is either directly ripped off, or heavily influenced by those that came before.
They blatantly copied numerous songs and only gave writing credit to many after being taken to court. Fuck those assholes
I seriously doubt that there is any negative intent there. And a lot of rock & roll songs sound alike. Ask Chuck Berry.

Ok, so fuck Zeppelin. What's your excuse for the rest?

I'm no Zeppelin fan, but what they did wasn't as blatant as The Beach Boys ripping off Chuck Berry.
Same God damn song.
I was a yuuuuge fan of them b4 anybody ever heard of them back from my first cassette I bought of them (Boy) in early '80s. I quit on them after Zooropa ... and I ain't ever heard anything of theirs since.
Their early stuff was epic, IMO.
The Red Hot Chili Peppers suck.
