That is very odd. What is the backstory?

So who has the biggest wad of cash to spend? That's where he's going.

Can't imagine there are too many teams who could fit him under their cap at this point. Seems like a powerplay by the Panthers to get him to lower his price, which very well could backfire...

Rescinding the franchise tag from a franchise player... don't see that everyday.

The Eagles did Jeremiah Trotter like this about 15 years ago. Was a big mistake for Philly.

Someone will find a way to make cap room for this guy.

I don't think they want to commit that much money to a corner. The success of their D is predicated on the front 7 and they need money to resign Kawaan Short, Star Latoulelea (sp) and Kony Ealey. Plus their strength is a cohesive team concept which could easily be disrupted by Josh.
Having said that, I hate to see him go

The Giants should sign him. That would be one hell of a training camp

Quick look at over the cap tells me the Jags and 49ers could do it no problem. They have like 53 million in cap space.

Hmm, bad blood going on during negotiations. Kinda strange even with bad blood or without any possibility of a long term deal getting done, that they wouldn't just pay him the 2016 franchise salary of $14 mil.

Jags, Niners, Browns, & Titans all still have plenty of room to overpay him.

Man this might be the biggest news of the offseason (well maybe other than the Rams selling the farm for the #1). It is a big step in the wrong direction for the Panthers and knocks them out of the driver's seat in the NFC

He was probably looking to get paid an elite long term contract for a single season of elite production. It's not like he is a young guy in his mid twenties, he is going to be 29 this season.
